Watch: New 'Snowden' Trailer Debuts at Comic-Con

Filmmaker Oliver Stone (Platoon) made his first appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego yesterday to discuss his new film, Snowden. Fandango's Dave Karger hosted the panel, which also featured Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who portrays Edward Snowden, Shailene Woodley, who costars as Snowden's girlfriend Lindsay Mills, and Zachary Quinto, who costars as journalist Glenn Greenwald. According to the official synopsis, the movie "reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world." During the panel discussion, a new trailer was debuted.

 

Later, the movie screened and audience reaction appears to have been quite positive.

 

 

After the screening, a surprise guest appeared from Russia via Skype for the question and answer discussion: Edward Snowden!

 

The cast also includes Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Nicolas Cage, Scott Eastwood, Joely Richardson and Timothy Olyphant. Snowden will open in theaters on September 16.
