Mel Gibson has always been angry, but at least in 1980's Mad Max we were all onboard and entertained by his hotheadedness. MGM is releasing the post-apocalyptic classic on Blu-ray on October 5 in a BD/DVD combo back. The second film in the Mad Max trilogy, The Road Warrior, is already available on Blu-ray, so here's to hoping that the original Mad Max looks as good as its sequel in high definition.

The first Rush Hour starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker races home to Blu-ray on December 7. Supplements include commentary by director Brett Ratner, behind-the-scenes featurettes, Ratner's short film What Ever Happened to Mason Reese?, music videos and an isolated score. The last film in the Rush Hour trilogy is already on BD, but no word yet about Rush Hour 2.

Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery are immortals fighting for the ultimate "Prize"—the ability to know everything—in the sci-fi favorites Highlander and Highlander 2, both of which get high-def makeovers on November 2. The first film will be a director's cut and will include a commentary track; the sequel gets "enhanced and re-imagined visual effects" as well as four featurettes, an alternate ending, Cannes Film Festival promotional reel and the original trailer.

Director Renny Harlin's outrageously fun Deep Blue Sea starring Samuel L. Jackson, LL Cool J and Thomas Jane gets an exclusive Blu-ray release at the big blue store—Best Buy—on August 31. No details are available about bonus features, but the action flick about super-smart sharks terrorizing an oceanic research station is a bloody good way to end the summer.

HBO's Deadwood: The Complete Series about the outlaw justice in a gold-rush town comes to Blu-ray on November 23 in one boxed set. The historical Western starring Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Brad Dourif, Molly Parker and more is packing audio commentaries, featurettes, interviews and a making-of documentary.

The 25th Anniversary Edition of Santa Claus: The Movie ho-ho-hos to your home on October 26 in plenty of time for Christmas. The holiday classic starring Dudley Moore as a rogue elf and John Lithgow includes deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, audio commentary and trailers on its BD debut.

Also new on BD this week: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective/Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Crumb, Date Night, Death at a Funeral, The Diplomat, Forces of Nature, In the Shadow of the Moon, The Joneses, Multiple Sarcasms, National Lampoon's Vacation, National Lampoon's European Vacation, Screwballs II: Loose Screws, Triage and What's Up Doc?
