New 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' Trailer Unleashes Colorful Madness on Wonderland

Mar 29, 2016

Every now and then there are movies that make a ton of money and yet don't really seem to leave much of a dent on the cinematic landscape or pop culture in general. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was that kind of movie. It made over $1 billion world wide back in 2010, but no one ever really talks about it except when referencing yet another wacky performance from Johnny Depp.

But it's pretty much impossible that a movie makes that much money and doesn't get a sequel (the only movie to make more than a billion and not start a franchise is, understandably, Titanic) and so here we are six years later with Alice Through the Looking Glass. Tim Burton did not return to direct this entry (The Muppets' James Bobin took over), but the entire cast is back. It even includes one of the late Alan Rickman's final performances, which is bittersweet to hear in this new trailer.

If you're one of the millions of people who made Alice in Wonderland a billion-dollar grosser, you'll probably be into this one. It looks just as candy-coated and big headed as the last one, only this time it's got Sacha Baron Cohen stepping in as Time, a cruel villain that's about to ruin the weird realm of Wonderland.

Alice Through the Looking Glass is in theaters on May 27, 2016.
