Movie News: Viola Davis Joins Steve McQueen's 'Widows' Remake; First Look at Nick Jonas in 'Jumanji'

Widows: Viola Davis will star in the next movie from Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave). It's a heist thriller based on the 1983 British miniseries Widows, in which a group of women take on a robbery their husbands died attempting (there was already an American remake for TV in 2002). McQueen is writing the script with Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn. [Variety]


Jumanji: Dwayne Johnson continued his behind-the-scenes coverage of his Jumanji sequel by sharing a first look at Nick Jonas in the movie on Instagram. "He's gonna kill this role like I kill things with my bare hands," Johnson wrote of the singer-turned-actor. Jonas looks to be playing a pilot of some kind and, like Johnson, probably one of the avatars of the video game within the movie. [Instagram]


Untitled Talk Show Host Movie: Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson are teaming up for a movie being described as The Devil Wears Prada meets Broadcast News. Kaling wrote the untitled script and will play the first woman writer for a veteran late-night talk show host, played by Thompson, who is on the verge of losing the program. Scott Rudin (The Social Network) is producing. [Variety

Focused on Justin Timberlake and his group the Tennessee Kids as they perform at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in January 2015.
