Edge of Tomorrow

Luna Park: Tom Cruise wants to make another sci-fi movie with director Doug Liman. They previously teamed for last year's sci-fi adventure Edge of Tomorrow (above), as well as the upcoming modern-day thriller Mena, set for release on January 6, 2017, and now Cruise has joined Liman on the latter's long-in-development project Luna Park. The story follows "a group of renegade employees who venture to the moon to steal an energy source." [Variety]

Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim 2: Filming on the sequel to monster movie Pacific Rim may be delayed. According to a rumor, the start date for production has been pushed from November to sometime in 2016, which could affect its scheduled release date of August 4, 2017. No details have been provided; Guillermo del Toro is still set to direct. [Latino Review]

Marauders: Bruce Willis has made room for another movie in his busy schedule. Titled Marauders, it's an action thriller about an FBI agent on the trail of bank robbers, with Willis playing a bank manager harboring secrets. Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) co-stars; production will begin later this month in Ohio. Willis recently departed Woody Allen's next movie due to reported scheduling conflicts with rehearsals for his Broadway play Misery, which starts previews on October 22, so presumably the timing works for this one. Carol Trailer: Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett star in a new trailer for Carol, directed by Todd Haynes. Set in the 1950s, the movie depicts a relationship that develops between a department store clerk (Mara) and a charming, somewhat older woman (Blanchett). Already touted for awards consideration, it opens in theaters on November 20. [Movieclips]
