Before Midnight

Before Midnight: Wow, that was fast! Less than one week after we heard Ethan Hawke and director Richard Linklater were in Greece working on the script for a possible third collaboration with writer/actress Julie Delpy, the movie is already finished! Shooting wrapped on Tuesday night for Before Midnight, which will pick up the story of on-again, off-again lovers Jesse and Celine that was first enchantingly explored in Before Sunrise and then nine years later in Before Sunset. Safe House 2: An unexpectedly robust hit at the box office, Safe House has earned itself a follow-up film. Universal has brought back writer David Guggenheim and producer Scott Stuber to devise a sequel -- or, maybe a prequel, depending on what works best. The next installment, which is yet to be officially titled, is likely to again feature Ryan Reynolds as a CIA agent, but it’s not clear if Denzel Washington will return. [The Hollywood Reporter]

The Good Shepherd on TV: Robert De Niro’s 2006 spy drama The Good Shepherd will be translated into a television series. De Niro and original writer Eric Roth are behind the series, which is in development at Showtime. De Niro, who will direct, opted for the TV series over the possibility of a lower-priced feature sequel, claiming that he wants more time to delve into the characters. [The Playlist]

Taken 2 Trailer: The new Internet-only trailer for Taken 2 doesn’t provide more than a fleeting few moments of new footage, if that, but it’s definitely worth a play just to watch Liam Neeson’s introduction. Do what he says -- or else! The action thriller slams into theaters on October 5. [YouTube via First Showing]
