Artemis: While Ron Howard continues to share teasing images from his work on the Han Solo Star Wars movie, the original directors of that spinoff have revealed their next project. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will direct Artemis (not to be confused with Disney's upcoming Artemis Fowl), based on a new book by The Martian author Andy Weir. Interestingly enough, the Moon-set crime caper also has a smuggler for a main character. [Deadline]

Annihilation: Alex Garland's highly anticipated sophomore directorial effort, the sci-fi adventure movie Annihilation, has shared its first look featuring Natalie Portman's lead character, seen above. The veteran writer and Ex Machina helmer explains that in the movie "[she] finds a very strange, dream-like, surrealist landscape, and goes deeper and deeper into that world, and also into that mindset...the alligator has physical elements to it that should not belong on an alligator." Annihilation, which also dropped a teaser trailer today (watch below), hits theaters in February. Underworld: This year's Underworld: Blood Wars (pictured), the fifth installment of the vampires vs. werewolves Underworld series, seems to be its end on the big screen. For now at least. Franchise creator Len Wiseman is moving ahead with a TV show based on the movies, and he says it "will be a pretty big departure from the films...definitely less comic book in its tone and character.” [Deadline]

Geostorm trailer: Cities around the world experience mass destruction in the latest trailer for Geostorm, the upcoming disaster movie from Independence Day writer/producer Dean Devlin. Starring Gerard Butler, Abbie Cornish, Jim Struges and Andy Garcia as the U.S. president, the plot involves climate-controlling satellites in the future that backfire. See it in theaters on October 20. [Movieclips]
