Movie News: George Clooney Heads Back to TV for 'Catch-22'; 'Get Down' Actor to Star in 'Detective Pikachu'

Catch-22: Set in Italy during World War II, Joseph Heller's satirical novel Catch-22 was a critical and popular success after it was first published in 1961. Mike Nichols directed an ambitious if uneven film version in 1970. Now a six-episode adaptation is being prepared for the small screen; George Clooney (above in Money Monster) will star and also direct with his usual production partner Grant Heslov. Luke Davies (Lion) and David Michôd (War Machine) wrote the scripts; no network is yet attached. [The Wrap]


Pokémon's Detective Pikachu: Justice Smith, who broke out in Netflix's The Get Down, will star in Detective Pikachu. The live-action movie is based on a character and storyline in the incredibly popular Pokémon universe. Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) will direct; Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch wrote the screenplay. Dunkirk: Christopher Nolan's World War II drama Dunkirk earned critical favor this summer, while also enjoying a robust run in theaters, earning more than $524 million at the box office worldwide. Now it will be returning for a limited engagement starting December 1 in 50 IMAX and 70mm locations nationwide. The movie is also being tipped in multiple categories for awards consideration. Bullet Head Trailer: The wild first trailer for Bullet Head follows a criminal gang, led by Adrien Brody and John Malkovich, who seek refuge in an abandoned warehouse while pursued by authorities, led by Antonio Banderas. But then something monstrous begins growling in their hiding place and they are soon running for their lives. The thriller's theatrical release date has not yet been revealed. [Movieclips]
