Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Han Solo: Long played by Peter Mayhew (above in Star Wars: The Force Awakens), we saw the new, young version of Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) all gussied up for a publicity photograph for the upcoming Han Solo movie, but now director Ron Howard has featured the Wookiee in a shot from behind the scenes. Note that two Wookiees appear to be embracing in the shot that Chewbacca is checking out, which has led some to wonder if they are family members or romantic partners. The movie will open on May 25, 2018. [Twitter via ScreenCrush]

Zoolander 2

Chippendales: Ben Stiller (Zoolander 2, above) and Dev Patel (Lion) are in talks to join Chippendales, but they won't be playing male strippers. If things work out, Patel will star as an immigrant "who turned an L.A. dive bar into a multimillion-dollar cultural zeitgeist sensation," and Stiller will portray the male strip show's recruiter, choreographer and manager. Set in the 1980s, the movie is based on a true story. [Deadline]

Robotech: Andy Muschietti (Mama, above; the upcoming It) will develop and then direct a big-screen adaptation of Robotech, a Japanese animated television series. James Wan (Aquaman) was previously in discussions to helm the project. The original show revolved around giant robots created from alien technology discovered on Earth and then utilized to defend the planet against alien invasions. [THR]
