Jun 30, 2015

Daniel Radcliffe / Love & Mercy

Swiss Army Man: Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano (Love & Mercy) will star in Swiss Army Man, an independent, absurdist comedy about "a hopeless man stranded in the wilderness who befriends a dead body and together they go on a journey." Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also star; Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert wrote the original screenplay and will direct. Production is expected to get underway in July. [Deadline]

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Justice League Dark: Guillermo del Toro, who was attached to direct Justice League Dark, has departed the project. The movie is based on the DC Comics superhero team introduced in print in 2011, the team consisting of characters -- like Constantine and Madame Xanadu -- with a supernatural bent. Few details have been made available about the project so far. [Heat Vision]

Scream

Scream 5: A small-screen version of Scream debuts on MTV tonight (above), although fans of the original movies have continued to wonder if a fifth installment might still be in development. Bob Weinstein, who runs rights-owner the Weinstein Co., however, says there won't be any more movies: "It’s like putting an art-house movie in an art-house theater -- where the teens reside is MTV.” [Wall Street Journal]

Ant-Man

Ant-Man Clip: In the first clip from Marvel's Ant-Man, Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd) puts on a costume and shrinks for the very first time. Needless to say, it's a disorienting experience. Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Pena also star; the movie opens in theaters on July 17. [Marvel]
