Movie News: Charles Dance Joins 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters'; See Amber Heard in 'Aquaman'

Godzilla: King of the Monsters: Superb character actor Charles Dance (above left), known for Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Sally Hawkins has also signed up; she will reprise her role from the 2014 original (above right). The plot is still being kept under wraps. Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Ken Watanabe, Aisha Hinds and O’Shea Jackson Jr. will also star; Michael Daugherty will direct. [Deadline]



Aquaman: The first photo of Amber Heard as Mera in Justice League downplayed her regal status as Queen of Atlantis. A new photo shared by director James Wan from the actress' first day of production on Aquaman, however, revealed a far more colorful look for the character. She stars opposite Jason Momoa; the cast includes Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren and Willem Dafoe. The movie is scheduled to open on December 21, 2018. [Twitter]


London Has Fallen

Mission: Impossible 6: Angela Bassett  (London Has Fallen, above) will portray the C.I.A. director in the sixth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise. She joins Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Alec Baldwin. Filming got underway last month under the direction of Christopher McQuarrie, aiming for theatrical release on July 27, 2018. [Deadline]



Okja Trailer: The very lively, action-packed first trailer for Okja revolves around a young girl named Mija (An Seo Hyun), who must prevent a giant corporation from kidnapping her best friend, a very large animal. Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Steven Yeun and Giancarlo Esposito also star; the movie will debut at the Cannes Film Festival ahead of its home video release on Netflix. [Movieclips]
