Barbie: Anne Hathaway (Colossal, above) is in negotiations to star in Barbie, "schedule permitting." Amy Schumer dropped out of the lead role in March, citing a schedule conflict; Hathaway recently signed up for the sci-fi thriller O2, which may also create a potential timing issue. Alethea Jones (Fun Mom Dinner) is in talks to direct. The comedy, inspired by the Mattel toy line, is scheduled to open on June 29, 2018. [The Tracking Board]

James Bond 25: The next James Bond action-adventure movie has been slated for theatrical release on November 8, 2019. It's not yet been revealed whether Daniel Craig will return; he's been hot and cold on the idea of reprising the iconic role of the British secret agent for the past couple of years. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Casino Royale; Quantum of Solace; Skyfall; SPECTRE, above) have been tapped once again to write the script. [Variety]

Tolkien: Dome Karukoski (Tom of Finland, above) will direct Tolkien, a biographical drama about J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of fantasy series The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and others. The movie, which has been in development for several years, will start with Tolkien's younger years, as he makes friends with fellow social outcasts at school and then serves with them during World War I, which would later inspire his fictional work.
