Movie News: 'Nightmare on Elm Street' Being Rebooted Again; Watch Thrilling New 'Everest' Trailer

A Nightmare on Elm StreetRumor has it that New Line Cinema is planning to reboot A Nightmare on Elm Street -- again. Jackie Earle Haley starred as the iconic Freddy Krueger in a 2010 remake (above) that failed to find much favor with critics or audiences. The new version will be written by David Leslie Johnson (Orphan), who recently signed on to adapt Dungeons and Dragons for the big screen; he's also working on a sequel to The Conjuring and Disney's new version of Something Wicked This Way Comes. True Detective

Fantastic Beasts: Colin Farrell (True Detective, above) has joined the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a spinoff of the Harry Potter franchise. Farrell will play a supporting role, a wizard who meets the lead character, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) in New York as the latter ventures into a secret community of witches and wizards. Set some 70 years before the first Harry Potter adventure, the movie will also star Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, and Alison Sudol. It's set for release on November 18, 2016. Joel Coen and Ethan Coen

Black Money: Joel and Ethan Coen will write a screen version of Ross Macdonald's 1966 novel Black Money and may also direct. Several movies have been made based on books by famed mystery writer Macdonald, including Harper and The Drowning Pool, both starring Paul Newman. Black Money follows private eye Lew Archer after he is hired by a spurned man to investigate his former lover's new husband. [Deadline]
