It Follows

Independence Day 2: Director Roland Emmerich announced that Maika Monroe has joined the cast of Independence Day 2. Monroe starred recently in the breakout indie horror title It Follows; it's not yet clear what role she will be playing in the blockbuster sequel opposite the likes of Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum. The movie is set for release on June 24, 2016. [Twitter]

Unfriended

Unfriended: Low-budget horror thriller Unfriended has grossed more than $25 million in box office returns in the U.S., and thus has earned a sequel. The movie unfolds entirely on a young woman's personal computer, as the mysterious revenge story is told through the use of a variety of computer programs. Nelson Greaves will once again write the screenplay. [Bloody Disgusting]

24 Exposures

Death Note: Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest) has been tapped to direct Death Note, based on a Japanese horror comic book. The story revolves around a young man who discovers a mysterious notebook that gives him the power to kill simply by writing the victim's name; he then decides to kill all those he considers evil. A Japanese adaptation was so successful that it spawned a sequel; Shane Black was previously attached to direct. [Heat Vision]

Ted 2

Ted 2 Trailer: A new Ted 2 trailer is filled with filthy, salty language and thus is very much NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Mark Wahlberg returns as the best friend of the titular character, a talking bear voiced by co-writer and director Seth MacFarlane. Amanda Seyfried also stars in the comedy, which follows Ted as he attempts to have a baby with his new (human) wife; the movie will open in theaters on June 26. [MovieClips]
