Mulan: We've been hearing about Disney's plans for a new live-action Mulan and now comes word that a rival project at Sony has snagged a director. A previous report suggested Sony was searching for an Asian director; instead, Alex Graves, a TV veteran whose credits include Game of Thrones, will helm Sony's version, which has been scripted by Jason Keller (Mirror Mirror, Escape Plan). Both movies are based on the Chinese legend about a young female warrior, which was adapted by Disney into an animated hit back in 1998 (above). [Deadline]

Molly's Game: Kevin Costner (Criminal, above) is in talks to join Molly's Game. Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba are already set to star; if things work out, Costner would portray the father of Chastain's character. The movie is based on the memoir of Molly Bloom (Chastain), a competitive skier who was injured and then created and ran a high-class underground poker game. Aaron Sorkin wrote the screenplay and will direct. [Deadline]

San Andreas / Endless Love

Gerald's Game: Carla Gugino (San Andreas, above left) and Bruce Greenwood (Endless Love, above right) will star in an adaptation of Stephen King's Gerald's Game for Netflix. King's novel, first published in 1992, follows the struggles of a woman who wakes up alone and handcuffed to a bed in a remote location after a night of romantic experimentation. Mike Flanagan (Ouija: Origin of Evil, opening in theaters on Friday) will direct. [Deadline]

Moana Clip: Young Moana (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) meets legendary demi-god Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) in a fun new clip from Moana. The animated movie follows the two as they head off in search of a fabled island; it opens in theaters on November 23. [Movieclips]
