Movie News: 'Aquaman' Moves Forward; Guillermo del Toro Talks 'Pacific Rim 2,' 'Hellboy 3,' 'Pan's Labyrinth' Musical

Aquaman: Will Beall (Gangster Squad) has been brought back to finalize the screenplay for Aquaman. Beall was originally one of two writers hired in August 2014, but after director James Wan came on board in 2015, he instead developed a detailed treatment with Geoff Johns. Beall is now working with Wan and Johns on a new script. Jason Momoa (above left), Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe are set to star in the movie, which is scheduled for release on July 27, 2018. [THR]


Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Guillermo del Toro: Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says that "a lot of the cast" from Pacific Rim will return for the sequel, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, though no official announcements have been made yet. He also says that a third installment of Hellboy "is a wish that will never be fulfilled [because] the first two movies made really good profits on a market that doesn’t exist anymore." As to a stage musical version of Pan's Labyrinth, his 2006 horror fantasy, del Toro says: "We have all the songs" and an announcement is expected soon. [THR]



Spaceman Trailer: Josh Duhamel stars as Bill 'Spaceman' Lee, a Major League Baseball pitcher known for his controversial behavior, in Spaceman. The first trailer, focusing on his antics off the field, has now been released. The movie will open on August 19. [Movieclips]


Kickboxer: Vengeance

Kickboxer: Vengeance Trailer: The sixth installment in the series, Kickboxer: Vengeance sees the return of original star Jean-Claude Van Damme, this time as a trainer for a man (Alain Moussi) seeking revenge against the champion fighter (Dave Bautista) who killed his brother.
