Robotech: A new attempt is being made to bring a live-action movie version of the popular 1980s anime series Robotech to the big screen. The story revolved around the crash of a spaceship that allowed humans to make highly advanced robotic technologies, which were then used to battle alien invasions. Multiple filmmakers have tackled the project in the past without success; now writer Michael Gordon (300; G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra) has been hired to draft a new screenplay for Warner Bros. 24 Exposures

The Woods: Adam Wingard, who most recently helmed last year's action-thriller The Guest, will next make the horror movie The Woods. The tale follows a small group of college students on a fateful and no doubt frightening camping trip. Simon Barrett wrote the script; he and Wingard are longtime collaborators, with past credits including A Horrible Way to Die and You're Next. They also acted together in 24 Exposures (above) for director Joe Swanberg. [Heat Vision]

Mr. Holmes

Mr. Holmes Clip: Ian McKellen is featured in a new clip from Mr. Holmes. McKellen stars as the titular character, the famed detective Sherlock Holmes, who is now retired but still haunted by his very mysterious final case. Laura Linney also stars; the movie is heading to theaters later this year. [MovieClips]
