Marvel Bits: Netflix Orders 'Punisher' Series, Black Panther 'Civil War' Clip and More

Apr 29, 2016

We've got only one week left until the release of Captain America: Civil War and just under a month until X-Men: Apocalypse, so we've got some serious Marvel mania right now. Fortunately, the internet is filled with news and other goodies related to the MCU and Fox's Marvel-based franchise to feed our craving today. See the latest on the X-Men, Cap, The Punisher and more below.

The Punisher Solo Series

Following the fan-favorite character's MCU debut in season two of Daredevil this month, The Punisher is officially getting his own show on Netflix. Jon Bernthal will again star as the vigilante Frank Castle, and Hannibal writer/producer Steve Lightfoot will be the showrunner, slated to pen the first two episodes. There's no release date yet for the new series, which joins a slate already quite full with inaugural seasons on the way for Luke Cage and Iron Fist as well as the miniseries The Defenders and a second season of Jessica Jones and presumably a third for Daredevil

Black Panther Vs. The Winter Soldier

In case you need more reason to look forward to Civil War, Marvel has released a clip, via JoBlo.com, of one of the many great fight sequences from the upcoming sequel. It's a special one, as it shows the newly added hero Black Panther in action, prepping fans for his 2018 solo movie, as well. Watch the masked Avenger otherwise known as T'Challa go claw to bionic fist against the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes, below. Why are they fighting? See the whole movie to find out.

Ultimate Captain America: Civil War Trailer

Here's another way to pump you up even more for Civil War. The below "ultimate franchise trailer" from Fandango Movieclips includes, in addition to footage from the new movie, some of the background material from Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron that helps to set up and lead you into what you'll be seeing in the latest MCU installment.

The Russo Brothers Defend Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Even though it's arguably the best movie in the whole MCU, the second Captain America movie did get a nitpicky takedown from Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers. Fortunately, the movie's directors, Anthony and Joe Russo (who also helmed Civil War), had good reason to appreciate the funny video and recently paid a visit to the site's studio to comment on its criticisms line by line. Behind the Scenes at the X-Mansion

Finally, let's jump to another studio's Marvel Comics-adapted franchise with a special behind-the-scenes look at X-Men: Apocalypse. Coldwell Banker is the official real estate partner of the latest prequel-sequel starring the mutant superheroes. That means they get to share this featurette focused on the set of the X-mansion, the headquarters of the X-Men and Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. See how it was built, plus hear comments from stars James McAvoy and Sophie Turner and director Bryan Singer.
