Luke and Leia May Be Together Again in 'Star Wars'

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher first appeared together as young actors in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (above). They displayed great chemistry that developed over the next few years as the relationship of their characters changed in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.

Now Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa may be together again. Oscar Isaac, who appeared as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and reprises the character in the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, shared a photo of Hamill and Fisher in costume (via Birth.Movies.Death).

We don't know if the two stars share any scenes in the next chapter of the story or if they just happened to both be in costume on the same day. Yet the photo strongly suggests Luke and Leia will reunite on screen and perhaps discuss what's happened to their characters in the years that have passed since Return of the Jedi.

That would follow the pattern established in The Force Awakens, when Leia and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) reunited. Of course, we still expect Luke and Leia to be supporting players in a drama that will revolve primarily around Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), but, really it's all speculation at this point.

In view of the tragic passing of Fisher, it's comforting to think about a few more performances that we'll be able to see and treasure. Until then, we can watch moments like this crackerjack scene, when the universe was younger and Luke and Leia were streaking through it on their speeders.
