Katee Sackhoff Joins Female 'Expendables' Cast

Katee Sackhoff Joins Female 'Expendables' Cast

Oct 08, 2012

Katee Sackhoff Battlestar GalacticaThe much-discussed female version of The Expendables just got way fracking cooler with today’s news that Battlestar Galatica vet Katee Sackhoff is joining the cast.

The actress, best known for playing Captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on the wildly popular sci-fi series, will join MMA fighter Gina Carano in the upcoming feature.

Adi Shankar will produce the estrogen-laced action flick, based on a Dutch Southern script.

Shankar is pleased with getting Sackhoff signed to the project, telling Variety “If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars.” We’re not entirely sure we buy that – but we have enjoyed Sackhoff’s work on Galactica and are excited she’s now involved here.

Sources close to the project say that several other big name actresses are currently circling the project. Our own Monika Bartyzel recently wrote a column detailing her “dream team” of “Expendabelles,” and we hope Shankar read it and took notes. If Cynthia Rothrock and Michelle Yeoh aren’t in this movie, we’re going to be incredibly disappointed.

What do you guys think of this latest casting? What other female actresses must be in this movie? Seems like Sigourney Weaver should be in there for sure.
