Wonder Woman

We know that Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, will finally enter the DC movie universe as a supporting player in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opens in theaters on March 25. She will take center stage in Wonder Woman, which is currently filming under the direction of Patty Jenkins (Monster). What do we know about the movie so far?

We know that Gal Godot will star in the titular role.

The Israeli model turned actress made a notable impression in the Fast and Furious movies. In the DC comics, the character, created during World War II, is a warrior princess of the Amazons and is known as Princess Diana of Themyscira in her homeland. She adapts a secret identity as Diana Prince.

We know that the cast includes Chris Pine and other notable performers.

Pine will portray Steve Trevor, a love interest for Diana Prince. Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis have also been cast in unspecified roles.

Connie Nielsen

We now know who will play Wonder Woman's mother.

Connie Nielsen has joined the cast as Hippoyta, the queen of the Amazons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Born and raised in Denmark, Nielsen began making a mark in Hollywood with 1997's The Devil's Advocate and has built a steady career since then, mostly in supporting roles.

When will the movie be set?

In a recent Toronto Sun interview, Chris Pine said the film would be set during World War I: "It’s a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II. Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here."

Chris Pine

How did Pine describe his character, Steve Trevor?

"Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who’s seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization,” Pine said. “He’s a worldly guy, a charming guy and it’s going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes."

When can we see Wonder Woman on the big screen?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25. Wonder Woman will open in theaters on June 23, 2017.
