Synopsis

Originally published under the title Twenty Thousand Streets in 1935, author Patrick Hamilton's semi-autobiographical trilogy is adapted for the screen by director Simon Curtis and screenwriter Kevin Elyot. The story is set in and around The Midnight Bell, a public house off the Euston Road. There, a bartender named Bob pines for pretty prostitute Jenny, despite the sad fact that she has not a penny to her name.
