Sun on a Hazy Day Details

FULL SYNOPSIS

This Syrian film is set in that country's pre-independence days-to be specific, the 1930s. Born into wealth, Jihad Sahd empathizes with the poor. Sahd turns his back on his family and joins the "lower orders." He is given a crash course in Syrian customs by elderly Rafik El Soubeil. And he is awakened sexually by ingratiating prostitute Mouna Wasef. Jihad's father locates his son, and promptly becomes envious of Soubeil's relationship with the boy. Protected from legal consequences by his money and social position, the father exacts a terrible revenge on the old man. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
