This Syrian film is set in that country's pre-independence days-to be specific, the 1930s. Born into wealth, Jihad Sahd empathizes with the poor. Sahd turns his back on his family and joins the "lower orders." He is given a crash course in Syrian customs by elderly Rafik El Soubeil.
