How do you review a Wes Anderson movie? For some people it's just about comparing the latest to his previous films; for other people it's about reiterating that you either like Wes Anderson or you don't. But just as it infuriates me that most Wes Anderson parodies found on the Internet miss the point of his work and often even the nature of his style, it annoys me that many critics also treat his work so slightly.

Anyway, I haven't seen his latest, Moonrise Kingdom, which opened the Cannes Film Festival today and also screened for some critics in the States, so I can't speak to any higher at the moment. Instead, I have a sampling of responses from reviews and Twitter, most of them treating the thing as another distinct piece of Wes Anderson-ese...

New: Isn’t It Good?

We’re not even halfway through 2012, but one of my favorite films of the year thus far is already making it onto DVD. The breathlessly romantic Norwegian Wood (Flatiron Film Company; now available) brings Haruki Murakami’s international best-seller to the big screen under the exacting eye of master filmmaker Tran Anh Hung (The Scent of Green Papaya, Cyclô).

Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi is best known in the U.S. for films where she doesn’t speak (Babel, The Brothers Bloom), but she turns out to be great with dialogue as well, as she and Kenichi Matsuyama star as collegiate lovers whose late-1960s affair is tinged with loss and sadness. Whether you’re in the market for a tear-jerker or a cuddle-on-the-couch movie, you should...

James Badge Dale hasn't exactly become a household name yet, but the actor has been having a great last few years. He was one of the central characters in HBO's WWI mini-series The Pacific, he starred in the short-lived AMC conspiracy series Rubicon (I'm still bitter about this show only lasting one season), and then he made the jump to the big screen with small roles in both Shame, as Fassbender's sleazy boss, and The Grey, as the man Liam Neeson helps usher on his way.

Well, that jump just keeps on growing. He can now add to his list of future projects, which already includes World War Z and The Lone Ranger; Iron Man 3.

Variety is reporting the 35-year-old actor will be playing a character by the name of Eric Savin, who astute Iron Man comic fans might...

Director Morgan Spurlock has set his sights on McDonalds, Osama Bin Laden, the advertising world and Comic-Con, to name just a few subjects of his popular documentaries. His latest, Mansome, targets modern masculinity, and the myriad ripple effects created for men by a newfound obsession with grooming and appearance in our society.

Spurlock’s movie – executive produced by Will Arnett and Jason Bateman (who are interspersed throughout the film in hilarious comedic interludes) – explores facial hair, products geared toward male customers and body issues, and includes interviews with ordinary people, sociologists and celebrities (Zach Galifianakas, Judd Apatow, John Waters and Paul Rudd make particularly memorable appearances).

	As with any Spurlock production...

In preparation for the release of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Michael Fassbender has been busy making the interview rounds. We recently spotted a chat with the actor on GQ and, well, learned some stuff. You can read the full interview over here, but below are 25 highlights we dug up for you.

	1. Fassy is kind of a hipster, living in the ["un-hyperfashionable"] section of East London. "I always liked the energy round here. Traditionally more of a working-class area. A bit of an edginess to it, as well. And the parks are everywhere here. I always just felt like this was the right spot for me." Also, he keeps a messy apartment.

	2. When you visit his apartment, champagne, beer, and tea are on the menu.

	3. He owns several guitars and wanted to be a heavy...

In front of the camera, everyone seems to love Mark Duplass. He's great as Pete on FX' The League (the funniest show currently on TV), and we've heard nothing but good things about him in Safety Not Guaranteed. Behind the camera is a different story, though. Mark is one half of the Duplass brothers directing duo (the other being Jay), and it's not unfair to say that their films aren't always for everyone. Their more indie offerings, like Scrapple, Baghead and The Puffy Chair might come off as a little too unrefined for some people's tastes, while their more mainstream offerings like Cyrus and Jeff, Who Lives at Home have found much wider acclaim.

Their latest film, The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, looks like it's a bridge between the Duplass' indie and...

If you were convinced that Hollywood movie stars make too much money, today’s news won’t change your opinion – but it does provide an interesting look at just how much money a top name actor with a savvy agent and canny legal representation can bring in.

Marvel Studios has been incredibly cost-conscious when it comes to the budgets of their movies, particularly when it comes to paying actors’ salaries. All those big names that assembled for The Avengers? They all worked for well under $10 million dollars each – except one.

THR reports that Robert Downey Jr., the star of Iron Man, will potentially make over ten times as much as his co-stars – a staggering $50 million by the time all the ink has dried on the ledger sheet.
The state of Ohio thinks showing your udders is utterly offensive. At least they did in 1931 when Walt Disney premiered The Shindig, about a barn dance that the famous Mickey attends. Neatorama shared the story behind the banned Disney cartoon, in which Clarabelle Cow is shown in a stable reading a naughty book entitled Three Weeks. She's shown lounging in bed "naked" paging through the notorious read, written by Elinor Glyn.

The udders were lewd enough for some people, but the appearance of the British novelist's banned book (in Canada), which later came to be condemned by religious leaders in the U.S., put the scene over the top for many in 1930's Middle America. Three Weeks wasn't kinky enough to be the early 20th century version of Fifty Shades of...

Germany's Next Top Model contestant Micaela Schaefer wore a freaky dress to the Men in Black III Berlin premiere this week that looks to be made entirely of VHS tape, wrapped around and connected to her necklace. Something tells us this won't be part of the Men in Black III Halloween costume package at Party City, though your inventive teenage daughter can still dream ...
