The new trailer for The Act of Killing shows off quotes like “audacious,” “explosive,” “chilling,” and “extraordinary,” and while the trailer does manage to earn the acclaim and go as far to suggest the film really is one not to be missed, it’s also so unsettling it might make you think twice about jumping into the full feature. So although the trailer for The Act of Killing breaks boundaries and designates the film a worthy watch, three other trailers ride their more widespread thrill and appeal to the top.

Now that The Avengers has successfully achieved the super-team movie that compiles heroes from solo series, the next step is for a Justice League movie to follow suit, right? Well, the Marvel Studios Avengers megafranchise is already inspiring enough copycat attempts in Hollywood, most of which will probably never happen let alone be any good.

So, the next step for the genre, and blockbuster movies in general, is a franchise-crossover movie. Either something necessitating the partnership of studios, like Marvel and Fox coming to some agreement on the fight over Quicksilver, or maybe even something in-house, like Fox merging its X-Men and Fantastic Four properties.

Or, also within the same studio, instead of continuing to struggle with attempts at Justice League, Warner...

Who are the Schmoes, and what exactly do they know?

The Schmoes are a couple of regular guys, Kristian Harloff and Mark Ellis, who--like you--are the people for whom movies are made. Each week, we're posting brand new video from the Schmoes that'll give their spin on a given movie topic.

Hot-cars-hot-women flicks could almost have their own genre—they've been around practically since movies began. Fast & Furious 6 is the latest to reach the big screen, reuniting Paul Walker and Vin Diesel as fugitives enlisted by a federal agent (Dwayne Johnson) to track a crew of killer mercenaries with serious driving skills. (Oh, whatever—we all know it's about ridiculous action scenes involving driving off freeway overpasses, Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano...

Rarely do we cover animated features in the When Can I Watch column. Unless it’s Persepolis, or the latest Studio Ghibli movie, animation automatically means a Green Light for parents seeking cinematic options at neighborhood movie theaters. And with kids getting out of school over the next few weeks, I can anticipate a number of moms and dads looking for a proper movie escape, or a play date on a sweltering afternoon.

But Epic, for whatever reason, is getting overlooked in the crowded marketplace, as families flock to Iron Man (understandably) and bide their time until Pixar invites us all to Monsters University (again, understandably). The movie doesn’t deserve the cold shoulder, however, and I want to shine a light on the latest from Blue Sky in...

"The Weekend Rent offers quick-hit suggestions of what to watch at home to get psyched for new releases in theaters, on Friday."

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and the gang are back and revving their engines in Fast & Furious 6, which has the professional criminal gang led by Dominic Toretto (Diesel) being lured out of retirement with an offer to clear their records in exchange for helping to take down a mercenary organization. Michelle Rodriguez's character, who plays Toretto's thought-to-be-dead lover, returns as the second in command of said mercenary outfit.

As with every Fast & Furious movie, you can expect NOS-enhanced action, tough bromances and tricked-out rides. Instead of driving down memory lane and revisiting the other five films in the series...

Teasing that which you love is just a part of human nature. Every now and then you've got to jokingly prod that which you cherish just for the reminder that not only is nothing perfect, but that there is often immense beauty in imperfection. And that brings us to the Fast and Furious franchise, a set of movies where all of the perceived flaws are just part of the brilliance.

For example, we recently compiled a list of the most ridiculous decisions people make throughout the course of the series, and it wasn't to point out dumb screenwriting, it was to point out how the casual insanity that permeates these movies is just so dang entertaining. As is the repetitive, goofy trash talk that everyone spews at each other throughout the film.
As someone who grew up on 8-bit video games, there's something unique and simplistic about them that's missing from today's games. Back then all you had to do was jump, kick and shoot your way across a screen, occasionally memorizing some action combo to defeat a major villain and advance to the next stage. It was amazing because you didn't have to do anything. You didn't have to read a manual, talk to some idiot through a headset or spend hours training, feeding, housing and massaging your character before actually playing the game. You just put the game in the system and pressed start. That's it. Done.

And yeah, I probably sound like an old fart, but I miss those 8-bit games! Even moreso after watching this fun little viral video that re-creates the...

Pick yourselves up off the floor, party animals. It's time for another Poster-Crop Quiz! This week, we set aside our regrets from last night and gather a collection of posters from the career catalogs of the cast of The Hangover Part III. Whether they remember these movies or not, we certainly do, and we've snipped and cropped the posters to the point that identifying them could qualify as a sobriety test. See if you're up to the task. The first person to list all 10 posters will receive a shout-out in next week's quiz. Please don't quiz and drive.

Stars Mark Ruffalo, Melanie Laurent and Dave Franco show off some of their impressive skills in the following clips.

We kick things off with Franco and magician David Kwong, who give us a lesson on the art of card throwing. If you ever wanted to be Gambit from The X-Men, this primer on the art of tossing playing cards will get you started on your path.
