One to Another

Movie Info and Showtimes Posted on: Sep. 16, 2008 Release Date: Jun. 29, 2007

One to Another Grade: B
Who's in It: Lizzie Brocheré, Arthur Dupont, Guillaume Baché, Pierre Perrier, Nicolas Nollet

The Basics: This just in: The French are still the all-time champs at knowing how to get their nude-party on like no other country on Earth. Just check out this teen-sleuthing drama about a brother, a sister, their three male friends, a murder and tons of sex between uninhibited young people. That is, if you doubt my assertion and you're looking for proof.

What's the Deal? OK, some more plot. The brother and sister in question are très close. As in they roll around naked together and caress each other's hair and tell each other how beautiful the other one is. That kind of close. And they have good reason to do this because they're both superhot. The other three male friends? Well, one of them is doing it with the brother, and one is doing it with the sister. In fact, the sister does it with everyone, and when the brother ends up murdered, she does it some more to barter for clues like a nymphy Nancy Drew.

And the Point Is … I have no idea, but it's got a really good grasp on teen angst. It lives right in that urgent spot where nothing but your own adolescent drama matters. Of course, here the drama is pretty serious, what with the murder and all, but you get the idea that it could be about hair problems, and it'd still be as pouty and deadpan. Best of all? No apologies for the nonstop boinking going on. It dares you to call it sleazy.

Based on a True Story: At least that's how it's presented. But you have to wonder if the young people in question were padding their story with, "and then we had even more sex!" just to make it sound cooler than it was.

Best Names in 2007 Cinema: Add to the list of people like 28 Weeks Later's Mackintosh Muggleton and Imogen Poots and awesome Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, the young Gallic actor Pierre Perrier. You have to wonder if his parents were those "France for the French!" types.
