Despite the movie's considerable visual splendor, the pacing of Warriors of the Rainbow is clumsy, its battle scenes chaotic and its computer effects (especially of a fire that ravages the Seediq hunting forest) cheesy.

It's not clear what Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale values more - endless preaching about ancestral spirits or gruesome CG decapitations.

Warriors is a bruising, relentless experience, one more tiring than inspiring.

This wildly ambitious rumble-in-the-jungle battle epic arrives bearing so heavy a burden of industry expectations, one wishes the results were less kitschy and more coherent; still, the filmmaking has a raw physicality and crazy conviction it's hard not to admire.

Spectacular rain forest combat scenes are non-stop in an authentic-feeling actioner recounting an aborigine rebellion in 1930s Taiwan.

Tremendous and awesome - beautiful and sad by Muircheartach
For a movie that lasts two-and-a-half hours, you'd think it might be boring - especially if every character spoke a language you didn't understand. But not this movie. There's more action than in any fantasy, but there's also much to be learned about the Seediq people, along with the other native tribes in Taiwan's history. But this isn't a documentary - it's a story of survival and the ultimate battle that occurs in nearly every historic culture where those who come to settle and "civilize" find that the people who they wish to help really don't need or appreciate it. My wife, who is Taiwanese, and I watched It twice on two separate days. She loved the absolute beautiful scenery and excellent cinematography; I loved the action, but being part Creek Native American, could relate to what my ancestors must have experienced at the hands of their masters, being removed from their lands. Whatever your race, I promise that you will appreciate this film!

It's a historial event, but it's well filmed and well acted. I am so excited from beginning to the end. even it's 2 and half hours.

Great movie - a movie what will make you reconsider what it means to be a man by john_s_wu
This is a movie with heart and soul - the kind you wish Hollywood could still make. Don't let the special effects turn you off of the great story. The rawness and intensity of this movie is something that is rare to find today. See this movie!
