Though it includes some moderately funny snippets of actual performances, Wild West Comedy Show is not a concert film. We never see a complete performance or even a quarter of one.

    The Hollywood Reporter

Shot on sometimes lousy-looking video, it seems unreasonable to ask audiences to pay to see this picture on a big screen. But "Wild West," particularly with a bit of editing, would be a standout on cable, where shoddy production values would be eclipsed by some very funny material and the emcee presence of a sometimes charismatic (and sometimes obviously road-weary) star.

Vaughn could have used an editor, but Wild West still is a romp with a likable bunch.

For Families provided by Common Sense Media

Iffy for 15+

Raunchy stand-up roadshow will appeal to teens.

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that the language in this documentary -- which follows Vince Vaughn and a company of comedians on the road -- is not for the faint of heart. The foul language is colorful (every form of "f--k" you can think of and more) and nearly constant. That said, it's primarily delivered in spirited stand-up routines and casual conversation that's meant to be funny, and no anger or aggressive behavior is seen or implied. The guys talk about sex a fair amount (sometimes graphically), and they also smoke and drink.

  • Families can talk about whether the movie's documentary format heightens viewers' appreciation of the comedians. What did you learn about the actors and comedians that surprised you? Did your feelings change as you got to know them and their families? Was the segment in which the comedians worked "clean" (for young Hurricane Katrina victims) less funny, more funny, or about the same as their usual routines? Why?

The good stuff
  • message true0

Messages: Despite the constant barrage of R-rated language and sexual material, the comedians seem to be sensitive to race, sexual preference, and cultural differences. Some of the stand-up humor is directed at female behavior and sexuality, but it's lighthearted and mostly inoffensive. Real-life interview scenes depict the performers as hardworking and respectful of family and others.

What to watch for
  • violence false0

    Violence: Not an issue

  • sex false3

Sex: Sexual innuendo, sexual humor, and graphic sexual references throughout the comedy routines and in behind-the-scenes footage. Lots of body-part language ("balls," etc.)

  • language false5

Language: Near-constant use of profanity -- including all forms of "f--k," "s--t," "c---sucker," etc. -- throughout comedy routines and in the offstage banter.

  • consumerism false0

    Consumerism: Not an issue

  • drugsalcoholtobacco false3

Drinking, drugs and smoking: Some casual smoking and drinking.

Not What I Thought by lisaaaaaaaaa
This show is more like a documentary of the ups and downs of a comedy show on the road than a "movie". There are interviews with Vince and the other guys on the 30-day tour, and shows them traveling from town to town. They only show little clips of each guy's act so you really don't get to see the comedy show itself. It was interesting to watch, but I can't say it was worth paying movie ticket price for. It was kind of a bust as a night out. I can imagine that seeing the actual show live would have been great.

Funny by cavepilot
This documentary was funny, but I wouldn?t go as far as calling it hysterical. The film follows Vince Vaughn and a few of his comedian friends on a 30-day straight comedy tour, starting in CA and heading east. There are 3 themes in the film: life on the road traveling in a tour bus, tidbits of comedy acts, and some background on the comedians? upbringing. There are also some parts that I would call cameos, where some other people you will recognize show up on the tour. If you are a fan of Vince Vaughn or any of the other comedians on the tour you should enjoy this film.

Not worth it by brianne_amai
I love Vince Vaughn but this wasn't what I was hoping it would be at all. There were a small handful of funny parts, but it wasn't a classic Vince Vaughn film. When we got there, there were about 8 other people in the theater. We stayed the whole time because I bought the tickets and we weren't going to leave without getting my money's worth...but 5 of the 8 people left before we were even an hour into the film. Maybe, just maybe if they would have shown more of the actual stand-up and less of the backstage and on the road footage, it would have been better. Trust me, if you just have to see this movie, wait for it to come out on DVD.

Litte Laughs, Forced to Care About Struggling Comedians. by Axe Man Jack
I caught the matinee and walked into an empty theater. The film shows a 30 shows in 30 days road trip that covers California, the southwest, the midwest, and ends up in Chicago. Its more about the road trip with snippets of the 4 comics acts. I can't say there were that many laughs given such a small taste of each act. This isn't you're average theater stand up routine and going into it expecting as much I was disappointed. I don't care to have a Politically Correct cry fest for these actor/comedians. Make me laugh, or don't bill yourself a comedy show.

Funny and Touching - I really liked it! by bonitachyc
A lot of things happened three years ago (when this tour took place.) Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans during the 30 day trip. That, combined with the focus on Sebastian's sensitivity and his dedication, heart, body and soul into this art form made this movie that much more touching. I really loved it! Great jokes!

Funny....but a little different than expected by Christine610
We enjoyed the movie but it was different than we expected. There was some comedy time but most of it was like a documentry. It was something I would have loved to have seen on a cable channel. Not spent $10.00 to go see.

Give it time... by brazboyfl
I went to see "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show" the night it came out...I bought my tickets online, because I thought the theater was going to be PACKED...but it wasn't...at all...I thought that was a very bad sign, my buddy and I sat down and said "Man, this is going to s*ck...". The movie started kind of slow, they were just pretty much talking about the cities they were visiting and the people the met on the road...IT WAS VERY BORING...Man, about 30 minutes into the movie, they started to show more footages from the show...I have to say, my face was SORE because I was laughing so hard...they're so f-ing funny... Seriously, give it a chance, for the first 30 minutes you'll be thinking of how you'll be asking for a refund, but, once the jokes start, you're going to LOVE IT!!!

Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy show-30 days and 30 nights by suer
Didn't realize it was basically a documentary. A few of the sets were funny, but not much to write home about. This movie is definitely more male oriented. And to me, somewhat on the boring side, especially for Vince Vaughn!!

Mostly Funny Stuff!!! by michael9645
I found Vince Vaughn's Wild West tour funny and laugh out loud through out most of the film. The only down side I found in the film was the time spent as a tribute to hurricane victims. Yes, it was a touching and emotional time; but to go from laughing out loud right into that portion of the film was a real "buzz kill" for me. I would not have missed much if that portion had it been left on the cutting room floor. All in all it is entertaining and laugh out loud funny!
