The "Dexter" star gives it his all in this indie comedy about a 35-year-old unemployed man coping with various romantic and life crises, but by the end of this terminally cute effort you'll wish that he just stop moping and kill somebody already.

One can guess how the elements here might have been alluring on the page, but helmer/co-scenarist Michael Knowles' third feature doesn't find the distinctive tone needed to make its eccentric characters less than irksome and its plot more than arbitrary.

The New York Times Stephen Holden

Nobody in this sweet-natured, low-testosterone trifle is out for blood. Mr. Hall gives an agreeable portrayal of a man-child not unlike David Fisher, his character on "Six Feet Under."

The tiredness of its conceit aside, the film manages to ingratiate thanks to a script that pleasantly ping-pongs from one digressive dialogue to another and a persuasive performance by Hall.

Morris Bliss Grows Up by Couch Baron
Michael C. Hall is fantastic as man-child Morris Bliss, who grows up with the help of some crazy East Village characters and his hard but caring father. Loved a lot of the subtle touches and how the film didn't feel the need to hold my hand. Fun supporting turns by Brie Larson, Lucy Liu, Chris Messina, and Peter Fonda are the cherry on top of this sundae. Glad I got to see it on the big screen!

The Trouble With Bliss by slr237
Very much enjoyed the movie. A good story with great comedic touches by Michael C. Hall, Brie Larson and the rest of the excellent cast, Chris Messina, Lucy Liu, Peter Fonda, Brad Henke, and Sarah Shahi. Great music too, reflecting Hall's half-Greek heritage in the film.

The Trouble With Bliss by picturesandsound
Actors were superb as was the camera work. The story builds so it feels as though it is in real time as the story unfolds, making it a realistic presentation of a young man who finally grows up, although a little late in life.

Trouble With Bliss is Touching by tasumner
The Trouble With Bliss is a charming, East Village movie that touches the heart of the East Village malaise in finding happiness in a frenetic city of self-indulgence. It's quirky, fun and meaningful. A definite go see.

A great movie! by tutupg_45
I absolutely enjoyed this movie, specially the chemistry among the actors, they all seemed very natural, very convincing. And It's always nice to see Hall playing a character that is not being surrounded by death. It was definitely every bit as good as I hoped.
