An uneven but enjoyable trio of films that take affectionate (and sometimes literal) aim at the Japanese capital.

Do these films reflect actual aspects of modern Tokyo? The hikikomori epidemic is apparently real enough, but the other two segments seem more deliberately fantastical. The entertainment value? Medium to high: "Merde." Tokyo? Still standing.

A fun jaunt around the city and a quick tour of the preoccupations of three leading directors? Now there's a bargain.

Both in its parts and in the sum of them Tokyo! is playfully and sometimes disorientingly apocalyptic.

Though these vignettes appear frivolous and inconsequential when set beside the directors' features, they will tickle the funny bones of a general audience. A safe choice for fantastic fests, worldwide cinemas will open to the kind of audiences who bought tickets to see "Paris J'taime" or "To Each His Own Cinema."

Creative delicacy by fabricwarp
Words can't suffice as to what I got from this film.....I was like a kid in a candy shop. creativity, innovation and imagination is my candy. If there are others out there with this hunger, then I suggest this film to please and satisfy that hunger. It's a moving painting.

GREAT FILM! by fsufilmstudent
Tokyo! is an omnibus feature that brings together three of today's most vibrant directors for three enthralling stories that encompass one city. Each non-Japanese director brings his own style to the screen to present a foreigner's view of the largest city on earth, and in doing so provide us with a cinematic treat. This visually stunning film addresses the timeless question of whether we shape cities, or if cities shape us. I saw it at the Miami Film Festival and absolutely loved it, I can't wait till it comes out on DVD June 30th.

More screenings, you can't miss it by bMooG
The 3 directors all have their own unique styles and outlooks on the city of Tokyo!. This film has very in depth and has a lot of intriguing statements being made about Tokyo's society as whole. I urge any who enjoy good art, philosophy, and culture at its finest with a few comical scenes especially in "*****" in the 2nd act. THERE IS A SCREENING COMING UP ON 4/10 IN CAMBRIDGE, MA AT KENDALL SQUARE CINEMA. CHECK IT OUT
