not for kids
Grim, grisly horror film only for mature viewers.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that this horror movie is absolutely terrifying, full of gore and terror and violence. Grisly wounds are shown in great detail, and tension builds to a fever pitch. The victims -- hungry, angry, mindless zombie-like creatures -- are the stuff that nightmares are made of. Parents should also know that the film's style -- all of the action is seen through the lens of a single news camera as it follows a group of firefighters on a "routine" call -- makes for an upsetting, frenetic, and intense viewing experience. There's also some swearing and sexual innuendo.
- Families can talk about why zombie-style films are so popular. What anxieties do they speak to?
- How have modern "zombie" movies changed from the original examples of the genre?
- Also, do you think the movie's single-camera technique makes the filmmore frightening, or is it a gimmick designed to cover up a weak, familiar plot?
- Families can also discuss the film's scenario -- what law enforcementand medical procedures are in place in the event of a biologicalemergency? Would they be effective?
The good stuff
-
Messages: Extensive depiction of extreme circumstances of horror as the dwindling survivors in a quarantined apartment building are attacked by the victims of the virus; the outside world not only fails to offer help but actively shoots and attacks any of the people desperately trying to get out. Mention of "doomsday cults" and "nuclear, biological, and chemical" attacks.
-
Role models: A mixed bag; the heroes are good role models, but most of the others are not.
What to watch for
-
Violence: Near-constant, unrelenting horror violence, gore, and tension. The victims of a genetically engineered virus become aggressive, biting and attacking anyone in their path; there are also shootings, fatal falls, bludgeoning, and beatings. The film's central conceit that all the action is being filmed by a news crew leads to a scene in which an infected berserker is literally beaten to death with the camera. Animals are seen attacking humans; animals are seen eviscerated. Wounds and injuries are depicted with grim realism.
-
Sex: Some sexual innuendo and implied off-screen nudity; a firefighter bets he can "bang" a reporter before the end of the night.
-
Language: Relatively infrequent strong language includes "damn," "s--t," "f--k," and more.
-
Consumerism: Not an issue
-
Drinking, drugs and smoking: A character is clearly drunk; another character offers his Vicodin stash to help a veterinarian try to aid injured characters.

If you like to have fun at the movies, go. by WCinLV
While leaving the theater I heard some people talking sh*#, everyone is a critic, but I had a great time. I got envolved with the main charaters and felt for them when the fit hit the shan, and man does it ever.
Totally gross, suspensful and creepy thing happen and it's a roller coaster ride where the shaky film shots actually worked for me this time. This was a great late night movie. (saw the 12:01 am showing.)
I recommend going and having fun.

Quarantine, best *comedy* of the year by Hodrobond
This movie was just remarkably terrible, i haven't laughed at such bad acting and a terribly done plot since, well, Dragon Wars. Every moment of the film was predictable, and the characters reactions in the movie were unrealistic quick, beginning to bash a head in before the head appeared (there was no possible way for the character to know the "zombie" if you will, was in that location) During the first half of the film the theatre remained silent, then the other (1) moviegoer and I began laughing hysterically at all the problems with the movie, while predicting every event as it happened. The plot had some potential, however these "horror" films seem to no longer provide time for the viewers to become emotionally attached to the characters, which makes their deaths meaningless, twice in the movie I was asking myself who the person that just died was, or who the zombie was. Overall a terrible movie if you want a scare, but if you want laughs go with some friends and make fun of it

wow by Schiraptophobia
i went to this movie with my boyfriend. The beginning was very boring, and i thought it was going to be a terrible movie. But when they got into the building, the rest was nonstop adrenaline rush. You were always on the edge of the seat. I constantly kept catching myself leaning forward. The ending was short but very epic. My boyfriend was curled in a ball. Very intense movie.

Fantastic, Creepy, Very Intense! by JCredible
To all the people below me saying how bad the movie was because of the shakiness of the camera... SHUT UP. Its supposed to be that way, this was a first person camera movie, for more intense acting and more creepy cinematic angles.
Here is why this movie rocked..
-The movie was LOUD, the audio and noises coming from the speakers was pretty dramatic and made everyone in the theater, especially me and my friend, jump and curl up in a ball anticipating what was next.
-The people in the film connected with you and made you follow there every step, I actually wanted Jake (one of the main characters) to survive because he was such a heroic person in the film.
-Intense scenes of brutality and gruesomeness, very realistic shots of blood, bones, and death. It was pretty creepy and made you cringe.
OVERALL, this was a GREAT MOVIE. So if you are looking for a good time and a fright fest of a film, I RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE!!!!! 10/10

It was good by Bimbett
Me and my brother went to go see it and we both thought it was a pretty good movie. It was shot alot like cloverfield, but we didnt get sick like a bunch of these sissy's are saying. Its never a good idea going into a movie thinking you know how the whole story is going to go, and then getting dissapointed that it didnt go how you thought it should. Just watch it and appreciate it for what it is and its a pretty good movie.

overall great movie!!! by ramirezzmarie
I didn't know about this movie until my personal trainer told me about it. We went to watch it and didn't really know what to expect. I liked everything besides all the blood. We were jumping out of our seats, because it was really scary. You don't really know where something was going to pop out. I think anyone who likes horroe movies should go watch this. The ending could've been a bit better. That night i slept aroung 5am because I was scared. I hope there will be a sequel.

Cheap American Rip-Off by kissthachief
This is a movie copied from a Latin version titled "Rec". If you really want to see a scary movie this halloween go rent "Rec" it is like the Blair-Witch Project meets 28 days later. The Latin version is alot better acted, produced, and directed. Do not waste your money on Quarantine.

The 7.50 was actually WORTH it by cUtE D
This movie was actually not your typical 'Resident Evil' movie and it brought a new change to people killing each other.
Its by far the scariest movie in October. It gives you tons of jumps, at times laugher because of the way the actors react. If you want to get scared, jump, scream, and just have the boo boos knocked out of your pants, then go and watch it. Trust me this was worth every peny.
Caution: it does have gore and blood, definitely not meants for kids....
must GO - forget Resident Evil and all the zoombie movies this does not fit that cliche
