An aggressively noisy exercise in style over substance about nasty people doing nasty things to one another in (sigh) Southern California.

Randall Miller (Bottle Shock), appears to be trying to cross a bad Elmore Leonard thriller with a bad indie-festival family-angst comedy. He gives us the worst of both worlds.

Shows strains of stylistic overkill with egregious flash-edit tricks and sped-up camera moves, while the signal-flare plotting indicates that perhaps a bit more time could have been taken on the screenplay.

Uneven but enjoyably titillating black comedy should elate Rickman fans while pleasing aficionados of extra-flakey caper flicks.

A mercilessly convoluted version of a Twister, that genre in which the plot whacks us as if it's taking batting practice. I will not hint at anything that happens. I will simply observe that it's all entertaining.

Great fun!! by traciej
My son and I were the only two people in the theater. I can't believe it. This is the best movie out right now. We have walked out on the last two movies we went to see because there were so bad and here is this great little gem and no one knows about it. A real shame. You should go see it.

Nobel Son by jaguars_fan
This movie has more twists in it than a little girls braids! Just when you think you have it all figured out, you're on a new quest to figure it all out! What a great ride! Alan Rickman is perfect for the part he plays as Eli Michaelson! I don't know the man, but his portrayal of this charachter seems so natural that one has to wonder if this is how he is in real life! No matter, he does great as does Mary Steenburgen. While there are a couple of scenes that keep it from being family friendly, it is a very good who-dunnit and well worth seeing!

Killer cast doesn't disappoint by bill1234
This movie was really great. Randall Miller and Jody Savin did a really great job on this script and I'm so glad I saw it. The cast was great, every twist and turn made me enjoy this movie more. It's really underrated and will probably become a cult classic.

Worth the wait by AutumnStreet
This movie was a blast to watch. It's an adventure, and you get to come along for the ride. It requires close attention, as it moves quickly and has a lot of twists and turns. It has a lot of intriguing characters (some of which could have used more development though). The entire cast is phenomenal, and each and every one of them deliver a strong performance. It makes me wonder why we don't see the likes of Bryan Greenberg, Eliza Dushku, and Sean Hatosy on the big screen more often. There is quite a bit of violence and grotesque images, but definitely still manages to be a comedy. P.S. It's not for children. There were two young girls in the theatre when I saw it today, and they were giggling every time there was a swear word or nudity. Overall, I enjoyed it immensely. I'm not predicting it will win any awards, BUT IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH SEEING. I would even like seeing it again.

Two Thumbs Up! by matt12345
Five stars, 100%, and two thumbs up. This movie was great! I suggest seeing it. It had a lot of great scenes, great acting, great music, great writing and a really fun plot. If you only see one movie this holiday season, see Nobel Son.

Not what you'd expect by Everchange
The movie begins quite graphically and explosively. (Down to Alan Rickman's character having sex with one of his students.) Throughout the whole movie, my friend and I were never certain on what to expect. Characters come off as occasionally sympathetic, though more often you feel like people get exactly what they deserved. The cast was phenomenal, and I'll be eagerly picking up the soundtrack. The movie winds up being an enjoyingly convoluted mind-game. And in the end, we walked out completely blown away. Definitely a new (sadistic) favorite.

Surprisingly great by jen1234
My boyfriend wanted to go see this movie and so we went and I ended up enjoying it. I was really expecting it to be too violent for my liking but the plot-line carried the violence in a very enjoyable way. This was one of the best movies him and I have both liked in a while.

Alan Rickman Rocks! by Rick1234
I really liked this movie. Alan Rickman, Eliza Dushku, Bill Pullman, and Mary Steenburgen all did very well as I expected them to. Bryan Greenberg and Shawn Hatosy both did very well considering their somewhat newcomer status.

Funny...eventually! by DBM_06801
A bit slow to get started, the first third of the movie drags on, I almost left twice. Ended up being ok, not great.
