OK for kids 14+
Weepy romance is tame but may not interest teens.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that -- in terms of swearing, sexuality, violence, and commercialism -- there's hardly any age-inappropriate content in this romantic (if cliched) drama based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. That said, it may not interest a lot of young since since it deals with mature subjects like infidelity, divorce, and death (albeit with plenty of empathy). Adult characters drink heavily in one scene.
- Families can talk about the questions the movie raises. Is there such a thing as a soul mate? How do you know who the right person is for you? What do parents "owe" their children? Do you agree with how the main characters resolve their dilemmas? Families can also discuss how this movie compares to other romantic dramas. What do they tend to have in common? Do you care if certain parts of a movie like this one are predictable, or are you just in it for the escapism of it all?
What to watch for
-
Violence: A storm cuts a violent swath through the town of Rodanthe. Couples fight heatedly. A man kicks a car out of anger and lurks menacingly.
-
Sex: A couple falls into bed together; only their faces are shown. They're also seen lolling about under the covers, with shoulders bared.
-
Language: One use of "s--t"; otherwise, "son of a bitch," "hell," and "ass" are about as salty as it gets.
-
Consumerism: Not too many products, though the movie could serve as a tourism reel for the Outer Banks.
-
Drinking, drugs and smoking: Two adults drink heavily in one scene; some additional social drinking.

Nights in Rodanthe by ttolin1
Movie was unrealistic, the house would have collasped, the people would have died and disappeared, apparently the people in Hollywood don't watch the weather channel. I could not get into the movie and root for two characters who were still married but not to each other and what a burden the mother put on the daughter, the movie did not make me weepy or sad for the couple just angry that I spent so much money for a junky movie!

Nights in Rodanthe...Well Done! by Pamspride
It was all I could do not to sob out loud! I mean seriously sob!
Every emotion these characters went thru, I went thru. The storm scene made me feel like I was in the house with them. Can't say too much more...I don't want to give away too much!
Very enjoyable movie with great actors and even some nice scenery!
Sit back and just be entertained!
PS. Bring the tissue!

Torn? by haelhaelhael
Seriously I'm not really a big fan of Nicholas Sparks because his story always associates with people dying (breaks my heart). It depraves me of happy ending, that's just my point of view why I can't stand most of his story. Anyway upon learning that Gere and Lane starred in this film, though I was quite hesitant, I gave this one a try with more enthusiasm than I have expected (I'm a Gere & Lane fan since I was 9 [thanks Cotton Club]).
So why I gave it a "Go" instead of "Must Go"? Like what I have said when I read the book, I found that Paul and Adrienne's love story was hurried that made me doubt if it was-indeed-an ever lasting love. I wish Paul stayed not only for 5 days I wish it could have been a week or two just so I would see how their attraction evolved.
Well aside from that I found it very romantic and I really think that adults will mostly relate to this than teenagers. Wonder about actors portrayal? Gere and Lane... WOW they're just wow.

Another brilliant Nicholas Sparks adaption by edwardcullen521
I saw this movie with my mom who is a huge Nicholas Sparks fan. I'm only 13 but I loved this movie. It was romantic and had a great story line. It was a good chick flick. In the end everyone was crying in the theater, including me. It was very touching and the drama was full on. If you're in the mood for a good romance then I suggest Nights in Rodanthe. The performances were all great and it was just a great movie.

Made me cry... by kirtneill
It's a great movie. It's more like the book, but of course, the book is always better than the movie.
My friends and I enjoyed it a lot.
