This film is the closest to a work of art I have seen in the past year. Stunning scenery and photography, a beautiful story woven into a tapestry in which each of the characters speaks and then blends into support for the others. Near perfect acting, this film tells us what drama is about. Quite apart from being object d'art, the actual tale portrays all the dimensions of love from love of creation and nature through love of self to the mystery and [sometimes] passion inherent in male-female relationships. Stahl is magnificent in his role of Seroff the expatriot Russian curmudgeon painter, the other roles complemented his as he drew out the truth inherent in the roles we each create for ourselves in dealing with life's lessons, misfotunes and gifts. The comic relief is subtle and quite familiar. Haven't we all known, or perhaps actually been momentarily, the phony, the pseudo-intellect, the buffoon to the bemusement of our acquaintances? See this film before it gets away.

Liked the subject matter by marko03
Good cast. Really liked the subject of painting. Maybe it's just me, but growing up, I was always fascinated by movies about painting.

Awesome movie!!!! A real "make you feel good" story. You feel happy, sad, excited - its one of the best films I've seen lately. Its a story about a "real" young artist who needed someone to believe in him. I reccomend everyone who has a heart or has been a young person go see this film. You will feel great when you leave. I loved it!!!!!!! And all you people wasting everyones time rating something you haven't seen needs to grow up! Or just get a life. EVERYONE GO SEE IT. ITS WORTH IT!!!!!!!
