Not so much a movie as an amusement park ride.

This is a fairly bad movie, and yet at the same time maybe about as good as it could be. There may not be an 8-year-old alive who would not love it.

If this movie is not a ride, then what is it? One thing it may not be, quite, is a movie.

Ultimately, Journey to the Center of the Earth's minor-league visual pleasures will be most enjoyed by those with the smallest number of celluloid reference points, preferably those who have started going to the movies after "Jurassic Park" or, better yet, the Harry Potter films.

Journey is just the new version of a 1950s comin'-at-ya roller coaster, with a tape measure, trilobite antennae, and giant snapping piranha thrust at the audience.

A more unavoidable obstacle here is that there's not much in the way of plot -- the story is in the tour through the labyrinthian intimacies of inner Earth. As such, it's an f/x wizard's dream, and Brevig makes the most of it.

Whoops! I fell into a big deep hole! by saintandrew
It's really amazing how quickly a story can go from lonely dejected professor in an earth sciences lab at a small university to the center of the earth! However, this story doesn't really give you time to think about how unrealistic and unlikely the sequence of events that leads to the main premise of this update of Jules Verne's classic are. You just kind of float along for the ride. That's probably the most redeeming quality of the film. You don't really have time to ask; "how in tarnation could they come up with that so quickly?? It does leave me curious how much they left n the editing room floor. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable film to watch and the 3D enhances the experience - even the really kitschy 3D gimmicks. A Yo-Yo in your face? Puh-lease! The acting is good and it draws you into the story. If it were not for the obvious holes in the script and the mind's inability to not chime in with a "that's impossible" thought every 10 to 12 minutes, this would be a must go film.

Good Movie by rhett
I took 2 kids ages 7 and 5 and we all loved the movie. It's non-stop action and yet had a plot. A good movie for the whole family.

I took my 8 yr. old to see the movie. Just to do some farther daughter time, but I really enjoy the movie. I read the book along time ago and it was very close to the book. It was so good that after we wentr to see the movie that we went to the book store and bought two copies of the book. So now we are reading the book together and saying did you remember that part in the movie. The cast was great. They along with the story line made the movie. So parents out there it is a must see with kids.

Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D by matnovaes123
A very good movie that was extremely good for a PG movie. It was the best 3D effects in any movie to come out that is 3D. It was well worth the money that I paid for the tickets which I would see again and I am not one to see movies more than once in a theater. It was a great movie that all should see.

3D Journey is a 3D marvel, but lacked in story and acting by stefeny
I am not a fan of Brandon Frasier. I felt that the movie was spectacular to watch. The 3D of this movie is the best that I have seen. I do not have a problem with reality being bent for the big screen, as a matter of fact I prefer a movie that is fantasy, but this movie takes that to a whokle new level. The over all experiecne is not one you should miss.

Nothing like 3D by Agotado
All movies should be created on 3d format ... it was very enjoyable , especially for kids, but also adults were excited in viewing this film. You could hear the whole room react to close ups, the fishes, the dinosaur, the bugs, the rocks , water dropplets. Amazingly entertaining. Good story line, actors were very well insync w/ the cgi in the film ... very nice set ... worth a second look!!!

Not an Adult Movie by Grizzly Bear
I was excited to see this movie with my grand children, they loved it. They may not be your typical 2-7 year old movie goers, they really enjoy action moviies. I'm not sure why but kids seem to enjoy being scared in a safe environment. The movies had scarey plants and dinosaurs, add the 3-D effects and the kids had a good time. I found the begining of the movie to be slow and I felt it struggled to find it direction. Brennan Frasiers character went from a bumbling professor to an action hero instantly during the middle of the film. This movie isn't a classic that other films will be judged by but it was entertaining. If you want to see a movie and be entertained and not feel like you spent 2 hours in a garbage can when your done, Go see it..
