Awful Lindsay Lohan serial killer movie; beware!

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that this Lindsay Lohan movie is emphatically not for kids. She plays a stripper who becomes involved in a serial murder case, appearing not only in pole-dancing scenes and scenes where she drinks and smokes cigarettes, but also in very violent scenes. This imagery includes bloody dismemberment, bondage, fights, a chase in a dark house, a creepy basement with prosthetic legs hanging from the ceiling, and a couple of dead parents discovered by high-school-aged children. Sexual imagery includes pole-dancing, lap-dancing, and much writhing on stage, as well as a sex scene between Dakota and Jerrod (all close-ups, with moaning, as her "mother" overhears from the kitchen downstairs). The strippers and their clients smoke cigarettes and drink hard liquor. Language includes frequent use of "f--k."

  • Families can talk about this film role as a choice for Lindsay Lohan, who is trying to make a transition from Disney films and kids' parts into more mature fare: How does this film help or hurt that transition? What sorts of movies should she be making? Does her party girl image overshadow her acting talents? Should young actors have to be role models?

The good stuff
  • message true0

Messages: Terrible throughout: serial killer tortures and dismembers his victims; stripper drinks, smokes, and has indiscriminate sex; "good" schoolgirl flirts with seedy-looking gardener; father lies to daughter and wife; cops are threatening and slow on the uptake.

What to watch for
  • violence false5

Violence: Extreme violence and frequent discussion of violence: serial killer in the news dismembers victims (bloody, explicit images of fingers frozen in dry ice so they turn black, then cut off), Dakota appears without arm and leg (especially bloody in her nightmare version), Aubrey screams and cries while she's tortured (close-ups of her face), search party for missing Aubrey recalls TV news. Dakota discovers her mother's dead body (overdosed, grisly blue/black, with flies buzzing). Dakota's wounds-by-osmosis are displayed overtly (bloody and gaping), as are images she finds on the net illustrating a concept called "Stigmata Twins." Fight between Aubrey and serial killer includes slamming, hitting, falling, bondage, a hand sawed off, and a throat cut, all producing lots of blood.

  • sex false5

Sex: Film opens with, then repeats periodically repeats images of Dakota dancing in strip club (usually close-up, in red light, slow motion, and lingerie, pole-dancing and writhing); she rubs a customer's cigarette along her thigh, then he smells it. Strip club scenes show other women's naked breasts and lap-dancing. Aubrey kisses her boyfriend, also flirting with lawn-man (he holds up branch to simulate an erection and she shows off her tightly-clad form). Discussions of sex include high school girls ("popping out babies"), science class ("female reproductive organs"), Aubrey and Jerrod ("Is that all I am to you?"), Dakota and Jerrod (she uses "f--k" in her conversation). Repeated shots of cleavage, discussion of condoms (as the basis of a ruse played on FBI agents).

  • language false5

Language: Foul language includes at least 18 uses of "f--k," plus a few instances of "s--t," "hell," and "goddamn."

  • consumerism false0

    Consumerism: Lexus, Ask.com, Wikipedia.

  • drugsalcoholtobacco false3

Drinking, drugs and smoking: Heavy smoking and drinking by Dakota, her strip club boss, and clients at the strip club. Dakota says she was "raised by a crack addict."

a total waste of an evening! :( 2/10 by stylized
My sweet husband got us free passes from his office to see the premiere of "I Know Who Killed Me". I'm a huge fan of thrillers and the last Lindsay Lohan flick I saw was "Mean Girls" and the film was funny enough. I don't care too much about the fact that Miss Lohan's had some troubles with the law lately; as long as she performs well in movies I think her personal life should not be confused with what's on the screen. However, I could not get into Lohan's acting at all! She really killed - sorry for the pun - the creativity of this entire movie. All the other performances were great, and you could tell that all the other actors and actresses were very dedicated to this film. But Lindsay seemed bored, annoyed, and, well, very actress-y. I am in no way a performer of any kind, but I know bad acting when I see it. She made everything so one-dimensional and stiff. I made a Fandango account JUST to warn others about how bad this movie is! Please, avoid it at all costs.

Interesting plot by t0r2009
I know a lot of people thought the movie had a weak plot, I myself didn't see that. I thought it was a very interesting idea and was very entertaining. Though, there were some boring spots in the middle overall I thought it was a very good movie. The acting seemed good, the "gore" scenes were very graphic, and everything seemed real. The twist of the plot is the best part. I say go watch it, I didn't regret it.

Only if you liked "SAW" by Aletha2007
This movie was a trip. It shows a lot of graphic torchure sceens which was shocking. If you liked SAW you will like this movie.

Worst movie i've ever seen by RedSoxYay1
I honestly refrain from calling movies the "worst ever" just because I don't like them, but this movie was just SO BAD that I am not shy about saying it is the WORST MOVEI I'VE EVER SEEN! Not even top five worst - this is the worst of the worst! 50 minutes of graphic gory violence that only a sicko could enjoy and the rest of it is sex and cursing - only during the sex scene linday lohan only has two limbs. The end has some action, so if getting to it by watching crap that will make you sick to your stomach is worth 15 minutes of action at the end, watch the movie. Otherwise save your time, money, and sanity.

so disappointing! by LuvThatFlick
I'm one of the few Lindsay fans left, and boy, is getting hard to defend her when she gets arrested AND releases a terrible movie all in one week. There's a reason why there are NO REVIEWS TO BE FOUND for "I Know Who Killed Me". Its because this movie is bad. Its not all Lindsay's fault. She's better when she's playing the bad girl, but her dancing and swearing aren't really anything different than we see in the tabloids almost every day. I thought Neil and Julia were just so-so as her parents, and that Jessica Rose was pretty bland. The movie is just weird and it tries too hard to be artsy and it falls flat. I had hoped it would be amazing, and I left the premiere feeling let-down.

One of those movies where at the end everyone says "Are you Serious?" by lvbrook
I will be honest and admit that I do enjoy Lindsay Lohan as an actress and I felt that she did a great job in this flick. However, this movie started out with so much potential and just FELL APART at the end. It is hard to know where to begin. As I said, Lohan took a wierd role and did a good job with it however, you kind of wonder if she read the entire script before she signed on. First off, I want to warn you all that the movie relies heavily on gore. I am not joking, THE TORTURE SCENES ARE OVER-THE-TOP. Why am I telling you this? Because the movie relied heavily on shock value and once you get past that, the storyline falls apart. The ending gets pretty ridiculous...it as if the writer started out with an interesting idea, played around with it, started to get on a roll and then said "Crap, how do I end this?" I know everyone says it is horrible but I am giving it a So-So review because the acting was strong and the storyline had potential. However, the ending just gets silly.

Pay Attention, people! by acemichael
Lindsey does a killer job in this movie. The reason why people are saying its bad is because they're NOT PAYING ATTENTION! You have to watch every detail of the movie in order to understand it. While in the movie, I had a woman answering her awful nokia ringtone cell phone and have a complete conversation AND a man choke on his candy until someone in the audience performed the heimlich maneuver. But I still understood the movie. This isn't a movie for people who don't like to think. If you don't have time to think, don't go. The gore in the movie is very real. Not for the faint of heart, though none of it is unnecessarily gruesome. See this movie!

Is there a rating lower than "Oh No!"? by bills972a
I wish there was...maybe they could call it "I Know Who Killed Me" because this movie is the worst I have ever seen- not just this year. The totally ridiculous concepts put forth bring the audience to laughter at inappropiatae moments. About half way through the movie when I saw it going in a totally ridiculous direction, I was wishing I had my DVD remote so I could fast forward and at least see what crazy plot lines came up before I walked out. Her physical condition after being found was very sickening to me. I didn't want to think of someone as hot as Lindsay Lohan being disfigured in that way. It ruined the rest of the movie. Another review said that some Lindsay skin was shown. There was some, but the lighting, backdrop, and makeup were so bad that it was as gross as the rest of the movie. If you've got nothing better to do than watch a movie you haven't seen, see another one for the second time that you liked instead of this deplorable, ridiculous, poorly written movie.
