… lunk-headed characters …

Who's in It: Maximilian Brückner, Carlo Ljubek, Willi Thomczyk

The Basics: It's a soccer "comedy" about a team of homosexual underdog footballers out to take on the real soccer players and disprove stereotypes, all the while rolling around in ridiculous clichés like a pig in … um … you know, I'm really not supposed to use profanity in these reviews.

What's the Deal? This is the kind of movie in which people joke about dropping the soap in the shower. In which "balls" really is a punch line. It's like sitting through a heartwarming 90-minute greatest-hits episode of Queer as Folk, minus the soft-core sex but full of feather boas, rainbow flags and entire busloads of people singing "I Will Survive" at the tops of their lungs. So, yeah, it's torture.

The Bad News Buggerers: It also manages to take every sports movie moment you've seen a million times and pretend as though this movie invented those, too.

Set in the Year … It's also kind of hard to believe that a movie full of so many lunk-headed heterosexual characters could accurately represent even the least progressive of European cities, much less one in Germany. This is the continent leading the way in gay marriage, after all, but you'd think it was Iran.

Hey, Gay Moviegoer, Who'll Go See Anything Gay Just Because It's Gay: Yes, the guys take off their clothes a lot. There. Your ticket price is validated.
