Fascinating main character saves kidnapping thriller.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Gone is a thriller about a kidnapper of young women. Although there's plenty of peril, tension, and violence -- including flashbacks to kidnappings, women being knocked out (with chloroform) and bound, gun use, and more -- the main character (played by Amanda Seyfried) is a strong, fascinating young woman. She's very tough, cunning, and crafty, although she often resorts to lying and isn't above hurting others. In addition to the violence, content includes some sexual innuendo and relatively infrequent language (including "s--t" and one "f--k"). One character is said to be an alcoholic, though she's never seen drinking; another character takes prescription pills.

Messages: In a variation on "the boy who cried wolf," a young woman is unable to get the help she needs in a drastic situation. Since authority figures don't believe her, she's forced to do everything herself. She doesn't trust anyone, and they don't trust her. Her methods include lying and hurting people.

Role models: Jill is amazingly self-sufficient -- a crafty and very strong survivor. She's physically capable of taking care of herself; she's aware and cunning. On the downside, she lies quite often to get information she needs, and she's also capable of crossing the line into murder. (There's also a suggestion, unproven, that she's mentally unstable.)
What to watch for

Violence: The main character carries a gun. She pulls it several times but only fires it at her ultimate target, whom she also burns with kerosene. There are flashbacks to a kidnapping, which include potentially upsetting images. Young women are knocked out with chloroform and are shown with duct tape on their hands and mouths. Viewers see vague images of the remains of former victims (a bit of hair and a broken bone). While wrestling in a gym, the main character gets angry and begins beating on her (male) opponent. A reference to rape.

Sex: When the main character takes a shower, the clear outline of her naked body can be seen through an opaque shower curtain. Also some flirting and more than one scene of sexual innuendo, including somewhat offensive terms.

Language: Language is infrequent but contains a few strong words, including one "f--k" and a few "s--t"s. Also "bitch," "balls," "hell," "goddamn," oh my God," and "ass."

Consumerism: The main character does a Google search. Justin Bieber is mentioned.

Drinking, drugs and smoking: The main character's sister is said to be an alcoholic. This is mentioned several times in dialogue, though she's never seen drinking and never falls off the wagon. The main character takes some kind of prescription pills in one scene. (In another scene, she throws them away.) Women are knocked out with drugs.

Gone ...... to DVD by Darkola
I'm not sure why, but this past year or two most of the movies coming out just seem to be par, and this one falls into that same catagory. This is a lady who was kidnapped and escaped her killer, then as time goes on, the killer comes back and kidnaps her sister, thinking its her, and she has to find her. The movie tries to make you wonder if its in her head, or if this is really happening, and they do a poor job of that, there is one cop in particular that they throw into the movie to mislead you into wondering who the kidnapper is, and the storyline with this cop is just terrible, things he says to her that are lies, yet serve no purpose, except to try and distract you from figuring out who the real kidnapper is. The story is just so so, that acting is just ok. I am always disappointed spending this kind of money to go to the show, to see a movie that, to be honest, is par with many made for tv movies and they put no real expense into this movie, nothing over the top. 2 stars of 4

another lets make some quick cash movie, the whole movie again in the previews would not recommed this at all this was as Bad as P2, PhoneBooth, save your movie money and your Time which you can't get Back, Big Let Down

I enjoyed the movie very much. I think it ended a little abruptly, as I wanted more but all in all it was a good movie. I had to tell my adult kids how he got in. I had to tell them he rented a locksmith vehicle and was able to get in that way. I give it a 4 out of 5

Not Boring, But Typical.. by movie-pro
We enjoyed the movie to the fullest. It's kinda typical in some respects to, Vanished, Taken, Disappeared, etc....O.K. for 13 and up... The movie moves rather quickly which keeps you interested.
I just always hate it when they play the cops as uncaring dumb butts that just can't do their job and and the victim has too....3 stars...Will make a great rental for a girls slumber party....BOO...LOL
Nothing special but we thought very entertaining !!

My husband and I thought it was a pretty good movie- The acting was good, just a little disappointed at the ending. We thought it could have been a little more creative instead of being so predictable. Over all, it was a good show and we are glad we went and saw it.

Wen I saw the trailer for this movie. I was like, this can be a good fun movie to watch, but guess what? WRONG!!!!!!!! I was seating in my seat saying in my mind this is a pretty boring movie! I saw 2 people walk out. the trailer looks like it could be good, but its NOT! SAVE YOUR MONEY! This is a rental for sure! Final Rating: 4.5/10!

An abundance of material for the "Scary Movie" realm of films. The majority of the audience laughed throughout much of the two hours. I left perplexed as to what the director was thinking in crafting this movie. Ridiculous, yet entertaining in a comical sense.

Serious disappointment. Hour and half of continually waiting for it to get better. Towards the end, 1/4 of the audience began chuckling at the bad, unbelievable, and corny plot. Seriously one of the worst movies I've seen in a long, long time. Wife openly admits she now owes me 2 guy movies for making me sit through this Mamma Mia gone bad wanna be thriller.

It?s no secret that I love Amanda Seyfried. I think she?s an amazing actress. She can play any character she sets her heart, too. Including Jill, a psycho trying to find the man who almost killed her. I don?t know if any of you saw Chloe, where Amanda Seyfried?s character was hired to seduce this woman?s husband, but then turns to the woman and tries to seduce her. Let?s just say it was messed up, but Amanda Seyfried can do that! She plays crazy so well! In Gone, Jill (Amanda Seyfried) has a strong determination to find her sister, and she is willing to do anything, including running from cops, borrowing cars, stealing guns, etc. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, which makes you want to keep watching.
