It was more like a documentary than a movie. She is very likable but there were actions in the movie that were disturbing to me because of her non-action results. Also, I still don't feel comfortable watching someone else have sex and there are several scenes I could have easily have done without. The ending was priceless and a good way to end the picture.

WE enjoyed this movie...it was real! not a Hollywood glamour with the female stars all full of botox and filled faces, and subs for the nude scenes ...it was the real deal...Young viewers will reach this age someday and change their view . Adults still enjoy sex no matter what age. The movie hits on many issues that happen as women and men get older. It was a pleasure to see the acting done to the point of real emotions. I would see it again...good job!!

Dissapointing to say the lease...a very messed up women and only herself to blame, and never seemed to get it together throughout the movie, and did not enjoy, the love sceans...not the most attracitive peopel, plus it was too much!!!

The movie gets off to a 'slowish' start but then I found myself intrigued by the character's decisions and how she evolves into freeing herself and enjoying life.

Hard to believe this won anything anywhere...You have to wonder what it was up against. I was looking forward to it but unfortunately it was painfully dull...

The story was rather slow in developing. I kept thinking "Get on with it".
Gloria was rather passive and somewhat unwilling to confront her issues. The sex scenes were unnecessary. The Rudolfo character was not very good either. I expected more Latin fiery dialogue from someone.

This is a great film about a beautiful woman by a foreign director. Gloria is wonderful to watch as she struggles with all the experiences which make her life and our lives rich or mundane, joyful or sad. It is the triumph of a woman whom life is not always kind to but who finds reasons to celebrate and sing and dance and blossom.
If you grow in life, you have to stretch and grow from the person you were to the person you become. Everyday things which challenge Gloria test her mettle and resolve and she triumphs fantastically.
There is some nudity but it is artful and beautifully integrated. I think the director is telling us that if you are not comfortable in your own skin, which you live in every day, how can you become the butterfly you hope to be. Gloria is a song you MUST dance with.

Although well acted, this movie made me want to wretch! Would have walked out had I not come with friends. Gloria's loneliness was so over-exaggerated to the point of ridiculous. Her lover's character, Rudolpho, the same extreeeeme insanity of a man still financially supporting his x-wife and two grown daughters while trying to find love & romance in his life, made both characters look like total idiots! And oh my God, those "senior love scenes" were disgusting! Definitely would not recommend to a friend.

The previews were totally deceiving with the clips shown out of order. So, one is lead to believe that she dumps the nit-wit early and then finds great joy in life. The movie is quite the opposite and is slow and painful to watch. Gloria has an infectuous smile but watching middle aged/old people have sex ....repeatedly....was too much. There were several totally unexplained and unnecessary sub-plots which just made a painful movie longer.

Lulled into this movie by a few good reviews by critics and its having won awards, I have to say it was hard not to leave before it finished. It has to be one of the most boring movies I've seen in recent memory. Gloria is a nitwit; Rodolfo is a twit. She gets upset with him for disappearing from a family get-together where she ignores him completely. No wonder he decamped. His other abandonments are silly. She should find something a little more inspiring in her life than haunting singles bars. A lot of us have and do.
