Manages to be fairly entertaining in that exhausting, rackety, late-summer-kiddie-movie way.

A fur-covered "A-Team" for the kiddies, G-Force is heavy on splashy pyrotechnics and predictably light on plot.

    USA Today Claudia Puig

G-Force is unlikely to keep anyone older than 10 on the edge of his seat, and the bathroom humor may annoy adults. But the message of unity, while unoriginal, is consistently sweet.

The first 3-D film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer turns out to be similar to 2-D projects from the same noise-making producer--heavy on action scenes and heavy, too, on message.

There's seldom a dull moment -- but nor are there any that allow viewers young or old to invest in its elite team of furry characters to any satisfying or lasting degree despite the presence of an energetic voice cast.

For Families provided by Common Sense Media

OK for kids 6+

3-D adventure is funny ... if you're a first grader.

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that this 3-D adventure is sure to attract kids who can't resist talking animals, high-stakes action, and a hefty dose of silly gags and potty humor (especially a constantly farting guinea pig). Expect lots of action and some peril; the villain turns home appliances into killer robots, and there's a disturbing/sad reference to a character who might have been killed by a garbage truck (but it's not confirmed). Language includes mild insults like "stupid" and "dumb" and comments about how "hot" the female guinea pig is.

  • Families can talk about the movie's potty humor. Is it funny or too crude? Why do so many movies for kids amp up that kind of joke?
  • Also, the movie's violence stems from a character's desire for vengeance. What lesson does he learn in the end?

The good stuff
  • educationalvalue true1

Educational value: A couple of lessons about teamwork and friendship.

  • message true2

Messages: The G-Force works as a team to accomplish their missions, evenafter they discover they aren't really "genetically engineered" super-animals.The villain also realizes that not all humans are evil and repents for hiswrongdoing.

  • rolemodels true2

Role models: The G-Force teammates are brave and willing to act selflessly for the good of the country. On the flip side, a couple of characters are greedy and/or want to cause harm on a massive scale -- but they're also shown as being clearly in the wrong.

What to watch for
  • violence false2

Violence and scariness: Although no one actually dies, there's a scene in which an animal character seems to be swallowed up by a garbage truck; he's later referred to as dead. Lots of action involving covert missions to break into a home, secure important information from a target, and a high-octane car chase. The movie's climax involves weaponized appliances that turn into evil, Transformers-like robots bent on destruction. At one point, a lighter sets a flatulent guinea pig's behind on fire.

  • sex false2

Sexy stuff: The male guinea pigs all flirt with Juarez, and there are discussions of her being "hot" and whether she's "interested" in the guys. She talks about "guys" on Facebook, and the relationship jokes continue throughout the movie.

  • language false2

Language: Mild insults like "dumb," "stupid," "farty," "ugly," etc., plus other phrases that some may find inappropriate -- like "pimp my ride," "shut up," "look at my butt," "hot girlfriend," etc. There's also a use of "oh my God" and a good bit of scatological humor regarding one flatulent character.

  • consumerism false1

Consumerism: A reference to "Barbie" and quick glimpses of cars and computers (including a shot of a Facebook page), but nothing overt.

  • drugsalcoholtobacco false0

Drinking, drugs and smoking: Not an issue

Don't waste your KIDS time by yeoitsmatt
I am a counselor at a summer camp; our kids ages range from 6-12. I think out of about 120 kids only about 20 said they enjoyed it. The 8 yr old kids were too smart for it and got bored almost as fast as we (the counselors) did... jokes are few and far between... and only the mice and crazy gerbil are "cute enough to laugh at" not what i would call "funny". O and if u like the Black Eyed Peas then you might enjoy this movie because they play "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Got a Feeling" at almost every action scene... Stupid twist, wierd ending, stereotypicall characters: a black guinea pig who says things like "o snap", "thats dope", and "holla"... i wont even start with the hispanic guinea pig... you get the point.

G-Force is very funny! by askssk
I took my 8 year old daughter to see this movie. We are probably like that last people to see it, but it's definitely worth a trip to the movies. It was very funny for kids and adults. I never heard or saw anything inappropriate for her age. I definitely recommend it.

G-force 3D ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worth the $11! Very funny!!! The only thing I didn't like was the predictable plot. 3D is waaay cooler than a normal flick. The characters were spunky and cute, had nice chemistry and were fun to watch. Nicolas Cage's character's voice didn't sound like him at all(his character was Speckles, the mole). Overall great flick!

This mobie was a great family movie. I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old and they both laughed through the whole movie. Its a great movie to watch for a families night out. I have to admit that as an adult I also laughed through the whole movie. I would recommend this movie for any family. Its full of laughs.
