A tedious, by-the-numbers raunch-fest that exists strictly because it can.

Strains to sell itself as one crazy ride (raging parties! hot lesbian sex! bare breasts!), and chances are it won't disappoint those looking solely for unadulterated raunch.

    The Hollywood Reporter Frank Scheck

This low-rent frat house comedy is at once far more vulgar and decidedly less anarchic than its obvious inspiration and should flunk out of theaters before this year's crop of freshman students even finish unpacking their bags.

For Families provided by Common Sense Media

Not for kids 17 and under

Crude, boorish comedy doesn't make the grade.

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that this crude comedy -- which may be on older tweens' and younger teens' radar thanks to star Drake Bell of hit TV show Drake & Josh -- is a non-stop parade of boorish behavior, inebriation, and sex. Young men obsess about sex and ogle women (who mostly come across as window dressing). There's plenty of nudity -- big-breasted women (some in pasties) and men's behinds -- as well as crude sexual jokes (topics include sex toys and masturbation) and tons of swearing. Drinking seems to be the only thing there is to do at universities; underage characters swill alcohol constantly, and one character praises a girl by saying she "drinks like a college girl." Characters also smoke weed and inhale nitrous oxide.

  • Families can talk about who this film is targeted at. Who do you think the filmmakers' ideal audience is? Why are sex- and swearing-filled movies so popular? Do you find this kind of humor funny or offensive? Why? Families can also discuss how the movie portrays women. Are the female characters stereotypical? In what ways? And do you think this is an accurate depiction of college life? How have other movies and TV Shows portrayed college in the past? How does this one compare?

The good stuff
  • message true0

Messages: Teens lie their way into a party- and sex-filled weekend. It's outright bacchanalia: Men and women hook up at the drop of a hat, with both opposite and same-sex partners. Some homophobic jokes, as well as sexist ones.

What to watch for
  • violence false2

Violence: Fraternity brothers haze newcomers by slapping them, hitting them, shooting at them with paintball guns, humiliating them verbally and physically, throwing them into pig excrement, and forcing them into strange sexual situations. Some screaming among friends.

  • sex false5

Sex: Plenty of randy content, including lesbian hookups, topless girls on parade (only sometimes wearing pasties), hand gestures signaling masturbation, men shown pleasuring themselves under covers, quick cuts to a man enjoying a blow-up doll, couples simulating sex, deep kisses, oral sex referenced through body movements, strippers, and more.

  • language false4

Language: Four-letter words galore, including "d-ck," "s--t," "f--k," and multiple variations on them. Also lots of use of "bitch" and "ass."

  • consumerism false1

Consumerism: Some signage for the university, cereal boxes, and a few other products, but nothing too excessive.

  • drugsalcoholtobacco false4

Drinking, drugs and smoking: Plenty of drinking and some drug use. Drinking is portrayed as cool and perhaps even a way to be popular. Keggers are the raison d'etre here, and underage kids are shown imbibing in many different ways (playing "quarters" beer bongs, etc.). Lots of depictions of various stages of inebriation. Some characters openly smoke weed, and both teens and adults get high inhaling nitrous oxide balloons.

?COLLEGE? -- The National Product Is Especially GROSS (but Entertaining) by jimchudnow
?Superbad? had a trio of friends who get into sex- & alcohol-related troubles, & this film seems to be an attempt to capture that same general idea: sensible-thinking Kevin (DRAKE BELL), his wild pal Carter (ANDREW CALDWELL) & nerdy friend Morris (KEVIN COVAIS) are three high school seniors who scout out a possible college, & unwisely choose to stay at a Frat house run by some abusive & cruel low-lifes. There are some exceptionally gross & R-rated type escapades with girls, excrement, animals and booze (not necessarily in that order!). Comparing this to the classic ?Animal House? is inaccurate: it has some very FUNNY ?I can?t believe they did that!? incidents, but the over-the-top elements usually aren?t imbued with much real cleverness or spark. The main actors do a good job in their characters, the film?s enjoyable in parts, but it often tends to be excessive, repetitive & purposely designed to shock rather than be a quality-based endeavor. I?d rate it a sort of high ?So So? film.

Sucked by hellasteezz
Just re-watch Super Bad, it's almost the exact same thing except Super Bad was actually hilarious. There is the fat kid, the nerd kid and the emotional kid..just like Super Bad.College even had a few lines from Super Bad. I was really disappointed with this movie, it was just gross.

Funny as all get out by The911
This movie truly shows the tenacidy behind college. Drugs sex and alcohol. Its like American Pie and Road trip had a baby together. Definately a must see this season!

awesome by jdbbrz
I loved it it was so funny Drake Bell was awesome he is really talented. Although they showed waaaaaaaaaaay to much of the fat kid's butt and not nearly enough of Drake Bell and tied to the statue like that with tape that was worth the whole price of the movie. I've seen other movies animal house, porky's ect. this one was so much better granted the camera work could have been better but all in all it was great I would sooooooo reccommend it like totally it even made my sister laugh and she hardly ever laughs at comedies she doesn't have to much of a sense of humer way to go Drake and cast it was super thank you.

If you enjoy the high school/college buddy gross out movies, then I say this is pretty good & GO! The good guys are well cast as are the jerk fraternity guys (ala Revenge of the Nerds). The movie was better than expected & stay for the outtakes during the credits as they are pretty funny too.

Worst movie I've seen in a while by Natinator09
It wasn't funny at all. It was just crude and didn't have a plot or point.
