Who's in It:
Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Rosario Dawson, Trevor Fehrman, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, Ben Affleck
The Basics: They stand around and talk about sex and Darth Vader some more what did you think they were going to do? But wait! There's ambiguity, too, like you ain't never seen before in a Kevin Smith film. Well, OK, Chasing Amy had some of that.
What's the Deal? I'm writing this review from the San Diego Comic-Con, that's what the deal is. And really, those three words are kind of all you need to know about how much I like Smith's movies. I'm a fan, if not a fanboy. And this sequel to his first, iconic indie film from 1994 is as "grown-up" a movie about life choices (if that's an expression that can be applied to Smith) as it can be without annoying the hell out of you.
Askew-niverse Quotient: Very high. All the nerd-tronic stuff that endeared him to his original fans; the filthy, hilarious dialogue; the hetero-/homoeroticism; the Jay; the Silent Bob
it's all back where it should be, and that makes me very happy.
Hot Chicks Who Like Comics: Smith casts his wife, Jennifer, here, as well as Rosario Dawson as a fast-food restaurant manager and love interest. In real life, Dawson is a self-confessed comic-book nerd who's now a co-creator of one herself. I know this because I saw her panel about that very project just yesterday.
Who Wins: What's up with Jeff Anderson (who plays Randall) not being in more movies? He's really funny. Does he have a day job doing something else when he's not being Randall?
