Who's In It:Ashley Tisdale, Doris Roberts, Kevin Nealon, Gillian Vigman, Carter Jenkins, Austin Butler, Ashley Boettcher, Henri Young, Regan Young
The Basics: A band of resourceful kids battle aliens (who happily, for most kids anyway, more or less resemble boogers) that are living in the attic of their vacation home. That part is totally believable. It's the well-appointed three-story vacation home that feels like science fiction.
What's The Deal: There's not a review that can be written that will matter to this film's audience. Because they're six years old. And it's not like you're the kind of parent who's going to tell that child, "I'm sorry, honey, but the critics found this film to be formulaic and tepid." You're going to take the kid. And the kid is going to love it.
Here's Why The Kid Is Going To Love It:
1. Ashley Tisdale from High School Musical is the star.
2. It's got the aforementioned boogery aliens.
3. Grandma (played by Everybody Loves Raymond star Doris Roberts) turns into a flying, alien-battling ninja.
4. Kids love movies where the kid characters are the only ones who know what's up. They have to navigate around the clueless adults and use their own knowledge to become heroes. Twenty years from now they'll see it again, having remembered it fondly, and even though they'll realize it's not a good movie, they just won't care.
The Formula: War of the Worlds + Home Alone + Gremlins
