Nothing but miscalculation from clumsy start to chaotic finish, an action thriller with a cynical, shriveled soul.

    Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert

Here's a movie without an ounce of human kindness, a sour and mean-spirited enterprise so desperate to please, it tries to be a yukky comedy and a hard-boiled action picture at the same time.

    USA Today Mike Clark

An odd mix of seediness, sideburns and even scorpions, the movie nearly matches the Lisa Marie-Michael Jackson marriage for weirdness.

This is a high octane ride that starts to leak gas before it even gets going.

For Families provided by Common Sense Media

Iffy for 17+

Extremely violent Elvis-based robbery for 17+ only.

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that this movie is extremely violent, at a level that would have received an X-rating just a few years ago. The movie also has very strong language, bathroom humor, and sexual references and situations (explicit, but no nudity). Couples have sex immediately after they meet. Many characters are killers and thieves to the point of preposterousness. They deceive and betray one another and they kill carelessly and recklessly. A child is an incorrigible thief. He is repeatedly exposed to extreme violence and sexual activity and he is both abandoned and kidnapped.

  • Families who see this movie could talk about the enduring appeal of Elvis, and how the dreams of the different characters affected their choices.
