Just as mysterious and secretive as its production is the quiet reveal of the first teaser trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's much-anticipated follow-up to her Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty. Here, Bigelow reteams with her Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal on a film that will take us deep inside the real-life mission that concluded with Osama bin Laden's death.
Not much is known about the filming of Zero Dark Thirty, nor where Bigelow and Boal did most of their research while writing the script. There was controversy surrounding whether or not they were privy to classified documents, with members of government seeking a formal investigation into the whole thing, but none of it has delayed the film, which is due out this December and features one helluva ensemble cast, some of whom will play members of the Navy SEAL Team 6 who eventually tracked down the terrorist leader. We're talking Kyle Chandler, Joel Edgerton, Kessica Chastain, Mark Duplass, Edgar Ramirez, Mark Strong, Nash Edgerton, Jason Clarke, Harold Perrineau, Frank Grillo and more.
Check out the first teaser trailer below, which plays off the idea that the film will be unearthing details of this historic event that we haven't heard until now.
Additionally, Entertainment Weekly has published the first images from the film. Check those out below, with more over at EW.
