Your In-Flight Entertainment May Soon Include Porn

Nov 09, 2011

In-flight entertainment doesn't have a stellar reputation when it comes to choosing movies for passengers. One airline is hoping to stand out amongst its competitors, however, by offering porn to its customers. Company Ryanair (which serves Europe and North Africa) hopes to soon provide a web-based service that works similar to a hotel pay-TV service. We had visions of customers watching smut from the screens on the backs of seats and National Lampoon-style shenanigans happening all around, but apparently the service won't be quite so … public.

Passengers log into an app with their iPads, smartphones, or other handheld devices. There, they can gamble, enjoy a few games, and check out some porn. Nothing's been made official yet, but the obvious concern here is privacy. With children present and the potential for extra long bathroom visits (ew!), Ryanair may not get its way. Plus, as Gawker points out, " … Watching porn without masturbating is just strange and unnatural. It's like eating cereal without milk or drinking decaf coffee." Are you hoping to check out the latest XXX entertainment on your next flight, or is this in-flight cinematic development just a really bad idea?
