In Your Eyes

In Your Eyes

Aug 21, 2009

Is it possible to hear Peter Gabriel’s haunting “In Your Eyes” without picturing John Cusack holding up a child-sized boom box outside Ione Skye’s bedroom and serenading her with the song? That scene from Say Anything… is one of the quintessential ‘80s moments on film. Cameron Crowe’s directorial debut about a mediocre student and aspiring kickboxer (Cusack) who tries to capture the heart of the beautiful valedictorian (Skye) is one of the most beloved romantic comedies of all time. Has it really been 20 years? It must have been, since Fox is preparing the film’s 20th Anniversary Edition for release on November 3 on Blu-ray and DVD. In addition to alternate and deleted scenes that have been released on disc before, the 20th Anniversary Edition has an all-new I Love Say Anything…” featurette that looks at famous fans who love the film and why, plus a conversation with Academy Award-winner Crowe. BD buyers (you were the first kid on your block to upgrade from cassettes to CDs too, right?) are treated to two exclusive extras: “An Iconic Film Revisited: Say Anything… 20 Years Later” featurette and a pop-up trivia track with over 200 questions. Here’s a bonus trivia question by Blu-ray Bob: Can you picture a teen from 2009 serenading his girlfriend from outside her bedroom window with Fall Out Boy blasting from his iPod? The answer is, “iCan’t.”
