The Year's Best Date Movie Is Returning to Theaters Next Week

Aug 20, 2014

Fact is, any movie these days can be a good date movie, depending on the various eclectic moviegoing tastes of you and your significant other. You both like comedy? See something funny. You both like horror? See something scary. But in our opinion, the perfect date movie is one that fuels the entire date night. If you plan to grab a bite to eat before or after the movie, it's great when the actual movie can be a part of that experience too.

This is why Jon Favreau's Chef is a bit of a special movie, and it's not just us who think that. After its debut in early May, Chef inched across the nation and slowly grossed $30 million, which is pretty spectacular for a small indie flick in a season full of giant, explosive moneymakers. It's become such a fan favorite that Open Road Films has decided to rerelease it in about 600 to 800 theaters next weekend (August 29) in the hopes of bolstering a potential awards run.

Awards aside, Chef is the perfect movie to wind down your summer with. It's fun, it's funny, it's romantic, it's poignant and it leaves you feeling great. Not only that, but... the food porn. C'mon! This thing is overflowing with so many deliciously enticing food moments that are sure to tie nicely into a romantic dinner following any screening.

Might we suggest a good Cuban place, or the local joint that makes a really great grilled cheese. Pick you up at eight?
