The fifth live-action X-Men movie arrives in theaters this weekend, and many are claiming it's the best one yet. James McAvoy (Professor Xavier) and Michael Fassbender (Magneto) give terrific performances as the new incarnations of two characters we've gotten to know previously through the earlier trilogy, and the newbies are all pretty fun to watch too. X-Men: First Class comes at a time when fanfare for the franchise is a tad low. X-Men Origins: Wolverine didn't go over as well with the fans, and the franchise took another blow when Darren Aronofsky recently left the director's chair on the second Wolverine movie.
But with only 10 months from start of production to release, director Matthew Vaughn has done a terrific job re-igniting a franchise that desperately needed a new set of wheels. Most of the critics seem happy with it (the film is currently enjoying an 86% Fresh rating over at Rotten Tomatoes), and so now it's just up to the audience to decide whether or not this newest X-Men sequel hurts or helps the franchise moving forward.
So sound off below and let us know what you thought of X-Men: First Class.
