Will Smith

Focus: Talk about musical casting chairs! The producers of romantic flick Focus originally sought Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone to star. When they weren’t available, Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart came on board. Now, with first Affleck and then Stewart dropping out, Will Smith is in talks to star. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy. Stupid. Love) wrote the script and are set to direct; the story follows the up-and-down romance of an experienced con man with a novice. [The Hollywood Reporter]

The Croods Sequel: Having already made more than $386 million at the box office worldwide, the prehistoric animated adventure The Croods has earned itself a sequel. The film’s writing and directing team (Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders) is returning, although it’s not clear if the original’s voice stars, notably Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds, will be back. Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes Trailer: A young girl (Kaya Scodelerio) develops an obsession with a new neighbor (Jessica Biel) with a newborn child in Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes. The first trailer is suitably mysterious and intriguing. The movie, which debuted at Sundance, does not yet have a U.S. release date. [Collider]

R.I.P.D. Trailer: What happens when we die? Well, if you’re a very good cop, you might be assigned to R.I.P.D. -- that’s the Rest In Peace Department -- just like Ryan Reynolds, as explained by Mary-Louise Parker and depicted in the first trailer for the upcoming movie of the same name. Reynolds is partnered with Jeff Bridges in the supernatural action adventure, which will be opening wide in 3D on July 19. [Machinima]
